Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?

All right, now that that's out of they way, does anyone have any ideas as to how I can convince my husband that he wants to go to a fancy potluck/BBQ/fireworks event after work tonight?
free food, free fireworks, all that jazz, his excuse for not wanting to go is that we normally run Nyzul/Assault on sundays at 7pm and the potluck thing starts at 7pm...It's a holiday weekend, I think he should give up his addiction for a few hours and come have fun with his family...lol
so, any ideas? lol
Counciling? If your husband can't walk away from the game long enough for a family gathering and spend time with you and your children, there's a problem. That's just my 2 cents, and you did ask for ideas. I say tell him you're going with our without him. If he decides not to go with you, you know where his real priorities lay.

Not to sound like a downer, but man you complain about him a lot. Most of the time from your description it's with reason.
Like Liandaru says if he won't stop playing a game to spend time with you, your family, or your kids..then something is def wrong.

he doesn't like doing family stuff, he'll do it if I throw a big enough fit but he just doesn't think those types of things are as important as I think they are. It's not necessarily that ffxi is the problem, it's more of, he'd figure out any excuse whatsoever to get out of leaving the house when it's not for work...he and I are a lot alike in that regard (except that in the summer all I EVER want to do is leave but every other time of the year I NEVER want to leave, whereas his aversion to leaving the house is all year long)...hmm now that I think about it he might be even more agoraphobic then I am >.<

I don't like going out with groups of people either, but I do it because my daughter enjoys it. I don't necessarily enjoy going to family gatherings, but I do it because my husband's family cares about me. I seriously see a problem with what you've got going on.

well, it's a problem we've been dealing with for 10 years...we'll be ok, after all he does DO these things, if I beg or throw enough of a fit lol.
Just got a reply to my email, he says he'll go to the thing with us tonight, I didn't even have to ask him more then 3 times (today, last night, day before yesterday) which is weird...maybe the idea of free BBQ is what sold him...lol

kind of yes but kind of no, I made the rule that the kids cannot play ffxi til they are 13, it wouldn't kill me if they started now as long as they had the same rules for it as they currently have for computer/xbox/wii games that they have now (which is to say they are only allowed to play any of these things after 2pm on weekend days and only for 4 hrs total playtime each day)
but no, I do not want them as engrossed in it as we are.

sorry, guess I do see the complaining there...damn, sorry, thought I was being good >.<
But just so all of you know, I may complain about him, but we've been together for 10yrs, we have children together, and neither of us is going anywhere, ever. He complains about me too, though admittedly not in forums like I do, his complaints are much more vocal and much more in person...we both have our flaws, we both have our issues, and yet we love each other.
Sure he's a ***, but guess what, I'm a lunatic ***, so I think we balance out.
anyway, I just don't want any of you getting the idea that we're not happy, because we are.
sorry for the complaining though, apparently I'm not very good at not doing it even when I'm trying not to >.< so I'm just going to keep this stuff to myself from now on.
