That's Dario. I can't remember his significance, but I do know he was related to Karsh and Riddel.

No, he's believed to have been deceased throughout the game until you finish a side quest and... well, face him as a boss lol.

That game is still a gigantic mindfuck to me, because even though it's a direct sequel to Chrono Trigger, there's so much stuff that parallels the game but feels and looks so damn different. It's hard to tell it has any correlation aside from the obvious things they point out.

He's also Karsh's rival. Both as a soldier and for Riddel's affection.
Got corrupted by the Masamune in both worlds. In Another World, he was killed by Karsh in self defense, both Karsh and Riddel survive. In Home World he survives and loses his memory until after you beat him, Karsh and Riddel are dead in this world.
Essentially, Riddel and Dario are fated to never be together. And Karsh is forever friend zoned. :<

Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu need to hook up and do the score for another awesome game. The sad part is, they're both doing their own thing, and I'd want it to be for a game with a high budget (Square-Enix) but with excellent writing behind it all (Mistwalker).
I loved Chrono Cross of what I played. I never beat it. I should buy it on PSN and just go start to finish. Replay value good on it?
Could go with Monolith Soft instead of Mistwalker. It was/is pretty much made up of the team that made the Chrono games. And the Xenogears/saga/blade games.

RPGs in general don't exactly have high replay value unless they stuff it to the gills with extra side quest content and other little easter eggs like they did with XII and XIII-2. However, the majority of it's replay value I would say is playing it for the second or third time to simply fully comprehend what happened. Similar to movies that are all over the place and difficult to comprehend the first time around. Read: Memento.

That's true. I guess my point was, all that which made Squaresoft so magical is split up into three different development teams. Mistwalker has the writers, Monolith has the talent, and Squeenix has the money :<
