I'd gauge my ears, but it seems pointless if my hair is going to cover my ears anyway.

my sister has decent sized plugs :I im fine with my normal plain earrings lol got them pierced like a few days after i was born meh :P plugs seem so pointless and then you get a big *** hole flopping around when you take out your earrings lol
