Someone should bump Josiah's Embarrassing Story thread. I'm bored and it's fun to hear stuff people have done in public (or private, for that matter).
for those of you that live in places where it's not ultra bright at night, tonight the moon is closest to the earth then it's ever been before. 11:38pm EST will be the closest distance.

Is there such a place that it's SO bright at night, that you can't see the moon? (Short of New Moon phase and whatnot.)

In Vegas all the lights really distort your view of the moon. You don't get to see as much detail. It's more of a 'yeah it's there' type thing vs pitch black area like my house you can see every possible detail on the moon surface that is viewable to the eye.
I was trying to think of a really bright city that would like... Totally block any view of the moon. But yeah, I see what you mean now. Not so much impossible to see as the detail is taken away.
I stand by what I said though... I'd be up for a trip to Vegas sometime!
If it's not cloudy, I should have a pretty decent view from here (except I'll probably be sleeping). I'm in a fairly small town (20-30,000 people) so there's not a ton of light. 5-10 minutes and I could have pitch black if I wanted.

I'm a raging idiot. I want to change my name from Stephanie (named after my father) to Jessica (the name my mother had picked out for me before my father insisted on a child named for him.) I feel like Stephanie more or less indicates that they wanted a boy (especially since my childhood nickname was Stevie, not Stephie) and I'm more or less never going to forgive my father for taking me away from my mother, lying to me about her, and using me as a pawn to hurt her when I was a child. I don't want to be named after him.
But it's just silly to change your name when you are 26 years old and everyone already knows you as something else. Bah.

Im a Stephanie. I always felt the name wasn't very adult sounding but its the name I always had. My little sister has a friend named Stevi that comes over all the time...I do wish mine had been shortened like that...Originally my mother wanted to name me Ryan but they thought I'd get made fun of. So it became a middle name...I think it would have been a cool first name now :(

If you don't like it, change it. To hell with what everyone else thinks. It won't take long for people to adjust to your new name.
It's your life and you should be called by what you feel is right.

It's been a few years now... Had a friend who changed her name from Tiffany to October. She was like 21ish at the time. So, it's not completely crazy, and people got used to it. Just go in with the Yomi mentality, "I DO WHAT I WANT!"
Now I think I'm a bit sad.

I go by my middle name. My first name is Daniel (after my father) but I just don't fit that name.. I don't like it. It feels wrong to me. So I go by my middle name, Scott.

But, on a serious note, that's always been my dog to the letter anytime there's a sound that is anything remotely similar to the sound of thunder. Except she would turn into a shaking, slobbering mess while she was at it.

Since we're on the topic of names... I'm weird.
I'm a Paul. I look like a Paul. The name fits me pretty well. But, my dad is also a Paul. My middle name is Robert, so I grew up being referred to as Bobby by my family.
Now it's odd because I'm so used to both. So, any girl who eventually meets my family gets super confused, because I'll generally introduce myself to them as Paul and get to know them that way, but then they talk to my parents or something and they keep being told "such and such Bobby such and such" and I'll get funny looks. D:

to las vegas! then the beach!..its my mighty future road trip plan. Im actually a good road tripper. Feels like half my life was roadtripped in a car cause we were too cheap to travel any other way. Sometimes I get creeped out peeing at truck stops and I get lots of "why are you touching me!?" though.
