I have once every few weeks.
I call it the life cycle of the beard.
What I do is every 2-3 weeks I shave it all the way off a newer stronger beard can grown in it's place.

The Navy insists that I shave everyday, and so I do. I swear, they can't even tolerate 9 hours of scruff, from the morning shave to the evening. Sometimes while I watch I get asked if I have shaved. BLARGH! Though, it's nothing compared to having to time my shits.

Hmmm I was hoping to share some insight but I never bet any nukes. I was on the Kittyhawk and the Rentz so never had any onboard.

I was an IT so as long as nothing broke I could "poop" as much as I wanted.
