I really think the tax should work the other way around. The buyer shouldn't suffer the penalty of an increased price at the irresponsibility or neglect of the vendor. If anything that tax should give a reduction in their sale while the buyer retains their static/given price.
While I see what you mean, that's the nature of being a seller. You have to fluxuate your inventory and said prices based on regional location and the presence or therelack of taxes. The penalty shouldn't be towards the buyer as a sort of deterrent from overpopulating the city with bazaars. The seller should be the one motivated to move to ideal locations, not the buyer.
What is the point of the taxes? I really don't understand it, a tax system only works if the tax goes to funding a government or equivalent governing body. In FFXI you simply lose money, for what reason :/ ?

It's interesting because unlike real life, everyone technically has a means of obtaining items put on sale. Buying things merely becomes a matter of convenience in the video game world.

Yes, yes it does. I know of several people who have over 15 various signed items in their bazaar for max gil.
I wish I had 15 free slots for junk. I'm lucky to have 3 free inventory slots on any of my jobs.
