Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?
That is acceptable, Arte.
I can't really afford to buy a new card even every year, so I stick with ATI, I buy a realtively top of the line card at the time I can afford to get a new one, and it lasts me a few years, My 4870 was bought with income tax refund, which is where this new one will be coming from... My cards tend to die before they're entirely obsolete.. Even by the time I'm going to replace them, the card is more than capable of running even the most recent and demanding games. The only problem is I always expect that there's going to be driver issues, so I'll either be left out for a week or so while a fix is figured out, or will just have to go without portions of the game (for instance, GTA IV, pool was literally unplayable due to a shading problem, it left the pool table, along with the balls, almost completely black.. You couldn't really see what you were doing to play, but otherwise, I was fine).
I'm not really trying to bash on Nvidia <.< It was just a joke (I can see you understand that, just putting that out there in case anyone else comes along). I'm not really about highest performance possible, I'm more about the durability in the long run. I have to stretch my budget as far as possible and ATI fills that role many times better than Nvidia. 7 years and 3 cards. all nvidia. my last one crapped out after 3 years. i blame myself for overclocking it and not cleaning it enough. the first one still works, but damn is it loud.
All I have to say is in the past ATI put a bad taste in my mouth with their god awful drivers. Wasted hours of time, gave countless amounts of stress and probably subsequent hair loss from frustration.
I never went back since. Thank the Gods for the ability to roll back drivers though. It's not going to last a lot longer, but it was literally months away from tax refund when I'd be able to get a new one, so I've been babying it and doing a bit of crossing the fingers hoping it will make it.. Saying this, it will probably go out tomorrow, but so far, so good.. It only has to make it another month or so.. Then I can retire it. This is all happening because I didnt buy the gtx 590.

If there's a manufacturer you have in mind, keep an eye on their main site as well as newegg because you can often find top-of-the-line cards that are OEM and thus dirt cheap. It's not like anyone uses the freeware and out of the box drivers anyways. Asura.Ludoggy said: » This is all happening because I didnt buy the gtx 590. For $700 it better play everything on Ultra with 60+ FPS, bake me cookies and give great head. Aye, GPUs are almost always ahead of the game vs CPUs, thus regardless of how nice of a system you have, you will get bottlenecking issues. Hell I think a lot of those passive clock cycle programs used to research cancer/look for aliens stuff use GPU cycles to process the pattern cycling than CPUs now. [person in thread asking about their system requirements] To which the reply is something like <first gen dual core processor that I can't remember> 2GB RAM and 250GB hard drive Actual forum post I ran across while looking up something completely unrelated (well unrelated to requirements, I was looking for driver issues -.-). I still remember it, because I actually thought about making an account on the forum just to tell them what an idiot they were. trying to listen to the vet and reduce the dogs food cuz they are so fat lol but they keep bugging and asking for food lol then my parents keep telling me they want food. -_- i know they do but they are so over weight >< then my dad still feeds them lol /rageflip

also i lol'd at the posh ladies arte Okay so random question.. (you might have to manually scroll in it's CTRL+Mouse wheel the way I do it) to actually see what I'm talking about.. Picture wasn't no where near as big on the original I transferred to my computer as it came out on Photobucket..
![]() In the red oval, there is a vein in my finger, very hard to see (but on a bigger picture you can see it clearly) Can anyone else just put their thumb on that spot of their finger and monitor their own pulse? I can <_< basically trying to see if that's normal or not, I've never heard of that, but you'd think if that was a relaible way to check pulse, you'd of at least heard it once or twice. If you can't tell by the frayed edges, this carpet is old as hell. It was actually given to me by a friend (a lot of it) from a church he was working on as general labor. The church wanted a spruce up, which meant new roof, new carpets and all that.. He gave us the carpets, since they were good size, that carpet is what keeps my chair from rolling around these stupid hardwood floors anytime I try to prop up my legs..
They really only serve that purpose, to keep my chair from rolling freely/at random. Ther'es another, even larger set of two strips (which is all tha'ts in here, you can see the split in the pic) in my son's/mother-in-law's room, still kinda dingy and obviously used, but they look better.. A lot of that grunge came from me taking my dirt bike apart in here.. Wife has pics, there are pieces everywhere.. I'm sure she'll see this then decide to go and find them (hint hint).. |
