I can usually find Orion, the Big Dipper (Polaris of course), and I can faintly see the Seven Sisters from my back yard. I need to dig through my parents house and find my telescope from when I was a kid. I bet the lenses are *** though.

That sucks! I'm relatively close to downtown Austin, but I can imagine how disruptive LA lights are. How far outside of LA would you have to drive to get a good view?

That's miserable! We have an observatory somewhere in the Hill Country that I think is no more than forty-five minutes away from here. For a really good view I just need to drive about fifteen to twenty minutes in just about any direction, and find some back roads.

its all developed here lol there is the griffiths observatory in the mountains but its a good hour plus drive lol
