Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?
I had a professor once back at comm. college. He teaches astrology there and he IS weird. Every day, he never misses coming to school in this red knitted sweater. He has neck-length gray hair that I think he gels back, and he always had a habit of making corny astrology jokes. He was a good professor though, I learned a lot from his class.

She does tend to get a bit bored, so that's probably a big part of it. We're not allowed to have pets in this apartment, so she's sort of a fugitive, so we really can't take her out on walks and such. We're moving this summer into a place where we can have her so that we CAN take her on walks. We give her a lot of toys and play with her during the day, but she's got to be bored, cooped up in an apartment. Do you have her cage trained, or does she mostly roam free all the time? She's cage trained for when we are at school, but if we are home she roams free. We try to come home in between every class that we can so she's never in her cage for more than a couple hours at a time. She's a beagle, so she's pretty small, and when we took her to the vet for her shots and things the vet said she was an unusually small beagle. She's really good, she's completely paper trained and never barks or bays, it's like she doesn't know how to or can't, somehow. She never bites, never chews on our stuff (but she does get into the trash, she's being really stubborn about that. I sprinkled cayenne pepper in the trashes to try to discourage her because nothing else seems to be working so far) and she loves to snuggle and cuddle. The only thing I wish we could do different at all was take her for walks and have a yard for her to play in. Here's a pic of her, actually: Edit: spoiler tags because that was a huge pic o.o Ifrit.Kungfuhustle said: I had a professor once back at comm. college. He teaches astrology there and he IS weird. I even picked an Ele Jap class but dropped it saying "If I wanted to learn how to draw houses, I would have taken an arts class." Here's a pic of her, actually: Edit: spoiler tags because that was a huge pic o.o Usually black pepper works better than cayenne--not as hot, and bigger grains. At least, that's my experience. My advice would be to try constructing a pen rather than using a cage. In a cage, she's just going to sit all day, and even if she plays, it's not going to escalate very far past sitting and chewing on something. With a pen, she won't feel so cooped up and she'll be able to actually move around. I use stuff like this and zip tie the squares together to make a fence in the corner of the room, or separating two rooms. It folds up nicely as well, but requires a bit of creativity to make it work in your place. Edit: Those shelves come in pieces, giving you 16 square fence-like grids to work with (iirc). Ooh, that's an awesome idea! Thanks Wombat :D I think she'd really like that!
Meh I dunno about sprinkling pepper in the trash to keep em at bay...seems like you aren't directly addressing the dogie with that :D
But if you are doing more than just that I'd say it should work. :D I'm one of those Caesar Milan believers that think that personifying your pets(treating them like people is a bit wrong..not saying that you fit that bill, just the only way i can think to describe it atm lol) Cerberus.Irishlass said: Ifrit.Kungfuhustle said: I had a professor once back at comm. college. If the cayenne coupled with scolds and spanks still doesn't work, I'll definitely try the black pepper. If that doesn't work, maybe we will have to get trash cans with heavy lids. :-( But I'd rather teach her not to do it then just make it so she can't do it.

I had a dog growing up who was super well-behaved. But, even at 15 years old and half-blind, she'd dump over the garbage if we left the house with the garbage can out, lol. She'd be sitting right by it, sad-facin' when we got home. =P Odin.Liela said: Oh Kungfuhustle! They are adorable! <3 Aww, lol, sad-faced dog. She must have known it was wrong and just couldn't resist. That's kinda cute and sweet but not all at the same time.

he was a german shepard chocolate lab mix. Random thought...
The Spanish dude that just sat down in front of my office has them skin tight jeans on. I'm sure he thinks he looks cool even though he's imminent *** pounding will come if he keeps bending over. Had her from my fourth birthday until I was nineteen. So, she passed away about four years ago... still bummed about it, lol. |
