Feeling slightly accomplished and big satisfaction :)
Finally got a Dyna-D run where we went all the way to Wave 3 final boss while I was on SAM with my 3-hit Mythic build.
We had two GEOs so got both Frailty and Malaise.
Bards were very kind and gave out Threnody in wave 3.
Mighta been my most satisfying Dyna D run. It was Jeuno, and goblins are squishy because the eyes don't matter for single target too much, but we mostly got Blue eyes anyway.
Spent basically the whole run getting many many 99999 Jinpus. There were plenty that were lower, resists here or there on NMs in Wave 2. Couldn't Jinpu wave 2 boss cause he resists magic (still hit about 18k Jinpu on him inspite of that, switched to Fudo after).
Wave 3 came around, and same deal. And my WS frequency is super legit. Highwind didn't even get to do Shock Spikes :)
Tri-boxing BRD, COR, and WAR in my party stayed late since we were so close to finishing when he needed to go Sortie. Very professional man! (we had a late start cause Jet pulled a Ninja vanish)
Wave 3 boss went well. COR in the first round of adds, and the other SAM with Kusanagi put it on the slab without it getting to Wild Card. Thanks to Hybrids not generating as much enmity I only had to Super Jump once, and High Jump did the trick the rest of the time. We did all the adds and I peeled to help kill them as one is supposed too.
And it was very stable. Very few deaths, if any. I don't recall anyone dying. :)
And I wound up at the top of the parse man's parse. 7 million damage and 621k SC damage attributed to me. :D For the boss alone!
30.7mil for the run entire :D! (not sure what total SC damage was, for some reason, people don't like to nod to it, and the parse man truncates the overall run parse to the highest 6, but I assume with it included I may have been responsible for upwards of 32mil)
It made me very happy. Not just to flex being good damage, but because of some very sentimental reasons. Almost storybook even.
I only decided to make the Kogarasumaru mythic to honor my late mom, cause the one time she asked me anything about FFXI back when I was a teen was when I was on Samurai. So whenever I'm on Samurai I feel like my mom might be watching, even though she's up in the good place now.
When I first started FFXI I had a mentor of sorts who was a black haired Elvaan who named his character Jinpu. It was actually his second character. He was Korean, and I guess he'd lost his original character to a ban for shady business. But he taught me a lot about the game, and I was real young back when XI started, so I looked up to him, even if he was a bit sour/stern/hard *** elite. He helped me break my first ever WSNM for Steel Cyclone.
My current main character's name is Calmwind. He's named for my best friend and 2nd ever PL in FFXI, who was a RDM and a RNG and a PUP. He was in the same group of friends that I met with Jinpu. Kind of had a wind theme going, I suppose. Maybe I should just declare that Vyre means wind (supposedly in that Stormlight Archive a character that has it means, "He who quiets").
Jinpu, of course, is the wind hybrid Great Katana weaponskill. I find it lovely that the Mythic starts with the Windslicer, kind of like a prophecy about which WS is gonna be your best bet in an ideal scenario. Of course, it's a reference to the Kazekiri or Tempest from FFVI, which had a 50% chance to deal wind damage to all enemeis. If you built Cyan's magic stat up, he could dual wield them, and potentially hit all enemies for 9999 with magical wind damage.
Which reminds me of another friend from that same friend group. Elvaan named Droca. He was tsundere, or maybe he just didn't like me for real. I was never sure. He took umbridge with me claiming to be a bigger FFVI fan than him. Maybe he was. He lost one of his hands in a car wreck, but managed to still play FFXI even after. I thought he was cool.
Droca and Jinpu were both SAM mains, and always talking about the different ways to maximize it.
I was never the biggest SAM fan boy, but it's a job that is somehow so full of memories. It was my 4th 75, because of Samurai Champloo and Tachi: Rana looking cool.
I wish it did more for the party, but not every job can be a group buffing kingpin, I suppose.
I'm feeling vindicated and nostalgic, and I miss my mom.
