I remember using email a few times to chat with other people. At that time, social media was nearly inexistent (couple of years later they invented the ICQ and Orkut). Probably Ms Chatty was still a little kid eating candies at that time. Just dont accept candies from old men.
They are SUS. They probably use anime lolis as avatar on the internet Pantafernando said: » I use hotmail. It was the first email I had, back when I was a kid. Oh yeah, it's an annoyance. It takes a full minute to spin 11 digits vs 1 second to hit contacts, dial
It was novel though. Now, manual transmission is more like what you're thinking. I just want a nice drive when I'm too tired to expend energy up and downshifting in traffic. THAT is annoying. That's not even a joke, a guy at my gym had a manual and someone tried to steal it, they ended up sending it into a ditch after spending a minute revving the engine with no clue what to do with it.
I hate the loss of manual transmission cars, but especially hate how expensive older manuals have become. I recently bought an 80 series Land Cruiser and the manuals were rare with obscene markup over the automatics. Back when most cars were new, manuals were the downgrade and autos were the upcharge, now it's reversed. Same with cloth seats. I'd take a cloth seat, manual, poverty pack (manual windows, manual HVAC) over 90% of the cars on the market today. Too bad most of the options that are like that and available in modern day won't be imported to the US for another 25 years. I never did learn to drive stick.
My dad taught me how to drive, as my mom had taught my older brothers, and said that it was dad's turn. I got my license just fine, but after that Dad said, "You should learn to drive stick. It's a good skill to have. But I'm not gonna just teach you stick like I did driving. You'll have to want to learn to drive stick." And me, being lazy, and used to him cajoling me inevitably waited for the cajoling that never came. A few are still made in stick but most cars come in automatic by default. It's worth learning IMO if you plan on driving for funsies and want something you can rev up and drive like that, otherwise it's just not as practical as it once was because you can't go buy many off the lot like you could years ago. I enjoy it a lot and it makes driving more engaging for me, the only time I had problems was driving through Philly. I'm sure the smell of burnt clutch still lingers to this day. Sadly stick shift is going the way of the dodo.
There are, however, companies that still sell new sports cars that are manual only. Not a fan of Porshe's driving style but their gated manual gearboxes are things of beauty. Also not a fan of sequential transmissions on cars, just feels weird. On a motorcycle of course they make sense, but that's different. On a good sequential you can even shift without the clutch if you match the revs correctly. Dodik said: » Sadly stick shift is going the way of the dodo. Garuda.Chanti said: » could just upshift through the gears without touching the clutch. Yup, works on downshifts too. On my bike sometimes it just happens on its own, put my foot on the lever to shift down while slowing and it slips into a downshift on its own without touching the clutch. Safe as long as you don't force it. I don't do it on upshifts cause it feels like forcing it. Barely need to touch the clutch it's so quick anyway. Sequentials on cars are all the rage in the custom car scene but those are electronically controlled with the computer auto-blipping for you. It's like a fancy semi-auto rather than a real sequential. Not really a fan. Asura.Vyre said: » I never did learn to drive stick.
