Alexio and Wynne were the box art characters lmao. Though I wound up being Gerard. Where the Galkas at? Asura.Vyre said: » Where the Galkas at? This is insane.
Over 15h trying and not getting a single roll. I admit defeat today. What a *** wasted day... OK, storytime, 1968 a good
I had hired a local geology professor and aerobatic pilot to teach me aerobatic flying. He had gotten into flying to study mountains and into aerobatics because precision fun adrenaline sport. He was GOOD, like airshow performer while school is out for the summer good. Not an old fuddy duddy professor in the slightest. I walk into the pilot's lounge (also the airport's passenger lounge) dressed in a common hippie chick look. Peasant blouse, jeans, fry boots, long hair down and flowing. Dead silence. Found my instructor and we walk out to his plane, a Citabra, while I put my hair in a ponytail. I preflight the aircraft we hop in and at his instruction I take off for the introductory lesson. I had learned to fly in planes this size, Cessna 150's, but my only taildragger experience had been in war surplus Beech D18s, WAY bigger than these. So I was a bit nervous about the landing. It wasn't a three point landing but it wasn't a three bounce landing either. Well into the any landing you can walk away from bracket. We walk into the lounge he says "Well, she can fly." Bang! I am instantly a member of the club. Ancient history: Hippies were discovered by the media in 1967. In '68 Time magazine ran an article about how hippies were moving into mainstream America like real jobs, even important well paying ones. The guys in the lounge had just been talking about this article. "The next thing you know some hippy will walk in here and want to rent an airplane." That had been my entry line. RadialArcana said: » I mean, it was obvious from the designs (especially the hairdos) that Nomura was the artist (For the Humes at least. We used to designate them FF names e.g. Wynne is Yuna, Geraud is Tidus, Rafale is Zell, etc), but it's still cool to see the conecept art. Asura.Vyre said: » Alexio and Wynne were the box art characters lmao It's also interesting to see the small descriptions next to some of the face e.g. Alerio has "normal hero" written next to him (that's why he's on the box art & intro cutscene I guess), Erhart is "cool longhair", Enkei (the Tenzen-looking guy) is "Asia". Bertram is just "beard" lol Asura.Vyre said: » Where the Galkas at? The worst trainee
And that also draw the tarutarus
Finally finished watching the 1st SHf playthrough, then proceed to finish watching NG+ and NG++ playthrough for all the other endings. 3 playthrough required to get the final ending I think.
The whole story and theme is actually pretty simple, if not a bit overused in the entertainment industry. However, because the story is presented in a very fragmented and symbolic way. So it is way harder to understand what the *** is really going on until the final end. Do I think this game should have silent hill name though? I would say yes. Imagine next 10 SH games all takes place in the same Silent Hill town with the same cause of supernatural phenomenon. Most of the suspense and intrigue will be gone because we know the answer already. IMO that's part of the reason why this IP start to decline since 3 and 4. It gets old to reuse the same setting and story concept over and over. At least SHf kept me guessing what is really going on the whole time with the new setting. Even though the real answer is ultimately quite simple, the journey to the answer is intriguing enough to read at least. I also liked how SHf uses many old school SH tropes and played some tricks with it. If this game is a different IP then those old SH tropes wouldn't work. So ultimately, I prefer this game being a silent Hill game because of what it is. Congrats Konami, you did it. I have been absolutely obsessed with these 3D full 360 captures lately. I just found this app called Scanniverse and I can't wait to try it out a bit. I've even been debating on buying a Quest 3 VR headset just to try it out more.
I'm pretty obsessed with VR and this kind of thing gets me very excited. It's refreshing to see more than stupid first person zombie shooters being developed for VR. I've been trying out a bunch of travel apps for VR after getting my new Bigscreen Beyond 2 headset. It's almost unsettling how realistic it feels with the insane clarity of this new headset. It's almost enough to make you belive in simulation theory. My planned game is supposed to utilize those VR as a plot device for battles.
EDIT: I mean, not the actual device, but like an equippablenitem fkr characters. The engine will be RPG Maker so there is nothing absurd on it Im thinking something like Yugioh, but instead of using those flashy armdisks and holographs, using just those headsets to simulate the mobs. That said, Im not considering buying a VR yet because most reviews Ive seem so far kinda was underwhelming. It is funny the last Fireship video I watched was about Zuckemberg showcasing his VR with AI, and failing ridiculously VR content is pretty lacking, but there is some absolute gems out there. Star Wars Rogue Squadron is really fun with a flight stick. Assetto Corsa is really good for racing/driving and has a huge modding community. I always fall back on Skyrim and Fallout 4 VR tho, they are still the best games out there imo.
The tech is really getting advanced and progressing quickly right now. The Quest 3 is a really good value, but I'd hold off because it seems like more and more headsets are coming with micro OLED displays. OLED is such a game changer from LCD. Being able to hit those no-light emitted black levels is amazing for immersion. Garuda.Chanti said: » a Citabra, When I was doing my instrument rating, the school I rented from had someone rent one of these (I think it was, might have been a Super Decathlon). He was checked out in the airplane and had just graduated from a nearby pilot mill program, but had no aerobatic experience. He decided he wanted to experience a roll for the first time and attempted it, he blacked out and woke up in an inverted dive having exceeded the load on the airplane. He managed to recover before going splat and had to pay them to disassemble and inspect the airplane for overstress damage. I got the D 18 time through a flight school in Akron OH where I took multi engine and instrument instruction. A selling point was they had a cargo and mail business and free right seat D -18 time was included. YOU BET THIS WAS THE DECIDING POINT. I logged over 50 hours in them. Great plane. My father as lots of story like that, the kind of stuff people would never believe. Except everyone of his family and friends do believe them... cuz we have all live through 1 or 2 of his stories seeing it first hand.
For him it all seems like it come from living with the flow, not just "going with it". It's just not something you hear about much. My CFI started flying in the early 60s and he had time in them but I can't say I've ever met anyone else during my time flying that did other than him. I can't even think of the last time I saw one that wasn't in a museum or at an air show. I flew out of a really busy airport in GA and don't think I ever saw one there, even though we had some wild stuff (there was an A35 (yes, A, as in 1947ish) Bonanza across the ramp from us). They are such elegant, cool airplanes with a lot of neat history. I can't imagine the cost to maintain and operate one now though. I saw photos of one not long ago that had a period correct executive interior and I've never wanted an airplane so much in my life, it was amazing. The new FFT looks fantastic
