If the mental state isn't affecting the physical performance, who cares about it...? If their mental state being affected by their lack of ability to have delayed gratification, but it's not showing up in their swimming results and isn't detectable in how far they can throw a shotput then...what are you on about?

What are you talking about? Metal state always plays a huge role in performance in important one time events like Olympics. That's why weaker athletes occasionally beat better athletes. Because the result is not purely based on physical states.

"physical state is the same" does NOT draw the same conclusion as "their performance is the same". Performance and physical states are 2 different things.

You have narrow point of view on what "performance" really means when we discussed this.

Like I said, I don't give a damn if an athlete have sex and do well.

If an athlete have sex before an important game and ranked poorly a day after, I will think this guy has bad self-control, I'll wondering if their bad-self control ruined their daily training discipline. I'll start wondering if they deserve my tax money. And it is all because of this one choice that ruined their reputation.

If you are an athlete why do you want to put yourself in a social disadvantage like this? What's the benefit to sex before Olympics? You tell me.

Not me.

Those guys were pent up for a convo since Radial slowed down his random baiting.

Originally I just wanted to point out people's negative pov on sex before Olympics aren't age/religion based it, it's a belief that's been practiced by professionals for a long time. That's really all there is.

Idk why it turns into tons of posts from non-professionals debating this practice lol. People cared too much about athletes's sex right!

Good morning you who think sex dont affect perfomance. Also you who think "yeah, one-time RoE is how it should be, stop whining filthy casual and git gud".

Then I ask what would you prefer: if sex should be a one-time quest, a daily, a weekly or montly quest.

Also, make the reward a kid for each completion.

Its the interview to be called for the interview to be called for the interview to be called for the interview to be called for the interview?

Or is the interview to be called for the interview to be called for the interview to be called for the interview?

Yes, it's Tifa. Summer event on Ever Crisis; the gang is chilling at Costa del Sol and end up helping some local rival fireworks crafters gather materials. The party splits up and Cloud seemingly ends up in cheesy porno land with Tifa and Aerith, while Yuffie attempts (and fails) to steal their fireworks, Barret and Cait Sith try to cool down by thinking about cold stuff, and Red just dies of heat stroke.

Microsoft are losing tons of money on Gamepass, but long term they gonna make out like bandits once they change how gamers think about getting games.

They want to be Netflix of games, selling you a service. They are even bringing CoD out day one on Gamepass, that will lose them hundreds of millions and reduce sales on ps5. They said they would not use their new position of dominance by buying Activision to stop CoD coming out to Ps5, they are giving it away on Gamepass and selling it on ps5 for $70. So they are effectively doing what they said they would not, in an underhanded way.

They aren't doing these things to be nice to their customers, long term the customers are going to get a much worse deal.

Xbox Game Pass ditches day one games and raises prices for standard tier

Major price increases are coming to all tiers of Xbox Game Pass, as the Console service is phased out and replaced by one with no day one games.

Back in May, Microsoft confirmed that Call Of Duty would be coming day one to Game Pass and that despite rumours that wouldn’t involve the creation of a new, more expensive tier for the subscription tier.

That’s not really true though, as massive changes are coming to the service, which will see both price increases across the board and the end of day one releases of new first party games for the new Standard tier.

I can support Afania's take here. If your performance isn't solely your own (whether because of hundreds of hours of coaching, financial investment/sponsorship, or even just the pride of your country).. then you owe it to those people to do the best you possibly can. If there is a reasonably defensible consensus that having sex prior to your event would make you perform worse, they would have a reason to be upset if you did that.

I'm not so sure there is a reasonably defensible consensus that having sex will reduce your performance though, especially for females. Pretty sure there is some tangental data to indicate it for males, but hard to fully support when mental health/clarity comes into play.

Argument may be easier to understand if you replace 'having sex' with 'getting high' or 'eating a shitton of mcdonalds' or something else that people have every right to do but would reduce performance.
you are correct, there is no current widely accepted evidence that having sex or obstaining from sex can improve a performance for the olympics, which is why I viewed it purely on an individual basis

However there is evidence that visualization works, which is what Michael Phelps used. Brain patterns are found to be similar when you visualize the act of practice for an event and you can actually learn and grown from just that visualization itself, when compared to brain patterns actually participating in the practice itself. Even for example visualizing all aspects of accurately playing the Violin and your brain can learn and improve in that regard, to become even better at a task and adapt to obstacles more effectively.

And interestingly if you only visualize positive practicing and acts, it actually worsens your performance since your brain thinks, "oh I already won, lets relax and dont have to try as hard" So the key is a balance and visualizing negative outcomes and occurrences during your thoughts as well, and your brain can learn from the visualizing the practice just like you were actually practicing. So the key is thinking about the failures and adapting to each situation you pose, to give your brain practice in overcoming.

Or....you know...do what the people actually making money doing such things did...get your *** in a practice room 8hrs a day and work.

Positive Visualization is a technique used when one cannot, for a variety of reasons, perform the actual task. Its there for time during injury recovery, or with some sports or performance artists, when they don't have access to all the facilities required for such task.

I'm glad you did mention one of the key dangers of that technique- the aspect of fooling your own brain into thinking you're good at it. At the end of the day, it wasn't Positive Visualization that got YoYo Ma on a stage, or Michael Phelps on a podium...it was literal LIFETIMES of work applied to a singular task combined with out of this world natural gifts.

Spend a lifetime around such folks and you end up seeing its just those raw hours alone in a practice room or gym that differentiate those who succeed and those who over time give up. There's no voodoo, there's no shortcuts. And the athletes and artists all know this and are just laughing at the general public thinking they've found out some secret unknown for centuries. Go ahead and keep thinking all these foolish paths...it just makes it harder for those outside the inner circles to get work in these fields.

I don't think anyone on any page has said that just doing one thing will make you competitive with an expert who has years of dedicated training in the field. It feels to me like you're inserting words that aren't there, perhaps because you feel there's been disrespect toward people who train judiciously to become the best at what they do.

It is a biological fact that differences in hormone levels will effect your mental state, and an indisputable fact that your mental state has impact when you are aiming to perform at the highest level. No, someone who hasn't ever practiced music will not compete with YoYo Ma. But, the idea that because someone is excellent at something, they're doing everything right, is reductive and contrary to all science imaginable.

Practice(and in some cases genetics) will be the largest contributors to success in effectively any discipline. But, that doesn't mean the small contributors/detractors don't exist. Look at the differences in records now versus the same events a century ago. Those wouldn't be possible without the greater understanding of nutrition and physiology being used to condition their bodies to an absolute peak. But, someone a century ago would've shrugged off things like that as irrelevant, too.

Edit: Specifically in regards to visualization, you cannot practice most things 16 hours a day physically. But, you can use visualization during downtime to continue building the mental component of your performance if you were so inclined. Michael Phelps practiced in the pool for 5-6 hours, 6 days a week. He also used visualization for 2 hours a day. It's an additional contributing factor, it's not a replacement for the physical practice.

what an oddly aggressive reply to the known effect this type of visualization has on improving one's performance.

But to your bolded point, Phelps in 2008 had his goggles fill with water during one of his races and stated the only reason he was able to still break the world record was because he had practiced for this happening in his training to prepare and was able to power through it using his visualization training and the method he had come up with for that exact situation happening. Without utilizing that method of practice, he believes that win would not have been achievable, according to his coach.
