Hopefully that's more effective than in Canada. I know someone whose credit card got hacked and started buying stuff online, trying to (or successfully) shipping it all to a single address. They reported it to the authorities and they "don't have any leads".

Like, really? You can't investigate the address to which these items are being delivered? You can't just stake it out and wait for someone to pick up a bunch of Wayfair and Amazon boxes?

It's being delivered to a house in Alberta. Like, it's not even outside of Canadian jurisdiction...

I could give it to the police but I'm not sure I understand it enough to decide whether or not it is worthwhile. It says there was a succesful login on Microsoft Edge and on an IP location search the rough location is 40-50 miles west of where I live. If it was my XBox I think it would show 'XBox' and not 'Windows', and if it was my laptop it is password locked. Can you join a network from the lockscreen? Can't check since I no longer have a laptop at home...

I have a definite lead which smackheads/junkies have my laptop and I told police their names but it takes several days for them to do anything after they log it in the system, find a free time and find an officer etc. By the time they realise they can't get into it and don't know how to format it from a USB windows installer I am sure they will just ditch it.

You will make a connection from the lock screen since it's validating your login information but idk if it logs login attempts on that page or if it only logs successful logins.

Give it a rest- not every novel needs an author/writer character somewhere in the storyline. In fact, more often than not all the author ends up doing is self-service that most readers just toil thru because the base story is worth dealing with side journey that has little to no bearing on it.

characters based on their ideal imagery of themselves, primarily. I can live with Samwell Gamgee being Tolkien because Sam has traits beyond the role of "author/observer". By comparison, Samwell Tarley is basically a childhood dream of what GRR hoped he would grow up into as an 8 year old boy who got picked on, and Reeta Skeeter is what JK idealized. Its so transparent that it detracts from the storytelling.

IP address arent localization coordinates.

What happen is that some requests send geolocalization coordinates then you can infer what position in the world someone sent some request (not that accurate though).

But by no means you can say xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is my neighborhood.

You can, though, use nslookup to find what an IP is resolved to.

For example nslookup 8.8.8.8 gonna tell what servers it went till reaching google.

Don't forget latitude and melanin levels.

IP addresses don't point to anywhere in particular. The first few numbers can be assigned as a 'block' to some provider, like L3, that operates largely in one country, but that's about it.

I just went to California for the first time (San Diego, to be specific). My initial impressions are as follows:

The good:
Lots to do.
Nice beaches.
Fantastic summer weather.

The bad:
The cost of everything.
I have no idea what the civil engineers were thinking when they designed the cities.
Parking spaces (why are they so friggin' small?!?).

The ugly:
Apparently the fashion there is to just wear literally anything that qualifies as clothing.

Finally saw Thor 4 and like it more than Thor 2 for sure. Was decent.

The Walking Dead is nearly over so someone has to take up the slack. Can't be worse than the Marvel TV shows. Loki is the only one I've found entertaining and that's mainly because of the actors in it and not the story.

Yeah, unless it's a temporary city for some kind of industrial or military requirement, it won't be designed as a whole.

That said, every municipality ought to have people in the position of city planning. Your tax money is going to these people to at least try to make new developments fit with existing ones. The goal of any designer is to make as many people after you as happy as possible, and a good designer will know the best places to compromise for the best gain for loss.

Sadly, a lot of these planners and designers just don't care at all. As long as it's up to code, they'll put it through. Even that's asking too much sometimes.

One of my peers at my last job kept putting stuff through the shop that was literally failing. I found this out because they were sick for a month and someone (me) had to answer customer questions on their behalf. When I'd open up their models I'd see red everywhere. I brought it up with my idiot manager. He was too much of a wuss to tell their own employee that they need to do their job, so he had me take all of their jobs and secretly fix them up before they went to the shop, adding tons more work to my busy schedule...

It's bad enough that the gamer population allowed things like loot boxes and battle passes become normalized. A company earns your favor and tries something sketchy, but gets away with it. And then it becomes the next way the industry screws you. Everyone laughs "LOL this is so stupid, no one's going to fall for it. I'll still give this company my money because it's just a fad and they'll grow tired of it". But it doesn't, because it makes them money.

But with vehicles? We're all laughing at BMW trying to sell people subscriptions to features in their vehicles. "LOL $23/month to access my heated seats? What's next, I'll have to subscribe to my brakes?"

The thing is, it's going to work. People aren't going to stop buying their BMWs in the same way people didn't stop buying Blizzard games. It's just going to become normal. And in less than a generation we're going to see every feature locked behind some crappy pay-wall.

I can easily choose to not buy games made after 2008'ish, but my disability virtually requires me to drive. I can't just not buy a car in an attempt to vote with my wallet.

i just got my old hacked psp working specifically to play some FFT. i have the UMD and the original ps1 disc, but the disc slow down is horrible. playing the rip of it is a lot smoother.

Im still struggling fighting Age of Mythology in Titan difficulty.

I even allowed myself some cheats like enable all map visible and doing the same opponent and map, but my progress is being too slow.
