Random Thoughts.....What Are You Thinking?

People have been cutting prices since the Auction House first opened. That's just how supply and demand works. Honestly, cutting prices means deflation, and that's a sign of a strong economy.

That isn't to say inflation is the only thing to look at for an economy's health, or even that it's related. But if prices are going down globally, you can buy more by selling Sparks items (et al.) to NPC's.

Thanks for that answer Jess ~ I think that if you "lived" on Leviathan you might be a little more concerned but, I totally understand what you're saying about the undercutting. As far as making money off of sparks (capped) and selling items to NPCs ... that just won't cut it when I need to upgrade armor, etc. I find it disheartening. And that's my random thoughts for the day! :)

If anything, probably those upgrades are way cheaper than what they were couple of months ago.

But if you look at the entire picture, we shouldnt be that much attached to material goods. You dont need to have the latest ferrari to be happy.

Lets all just wear our eminent gear and be grateful for what life gave us, and mot complain for that we dont have

I was on Levi ages ago, but moving away was the best choice I made. I had a lot more fun being able to play with a lot more people and enjoy the game as if its actually alive. I can't imagine playing on a server with 300 "active" people, when most of those are mules and RMT. Just move to Asura and save yourself the headache, the tiny fee is worth it. SE won't merge servers even though they should, so just do it until maybe that day comes and you can move back if you care that much.

Just saw that last night, it was neat. Although its pretty weird seeing actual "monsters" in Marvel universe but I guess thats a thing now.

Also in other news Amazon has warned my account :( Being a member since like 2006 means nothing! I guess if you return too much they flag you, well not my fault their returns systems is so dumb and they take anything back. I think it was a TV I purchased for 2,500 or so, I saw a week later it was reduced to 2050, so I tried to get the price difference and they refused. I order the new one at reduced price and when it arrived I returned the old one, and somehow they returned both TV so I got it free. I think that caused them to send me the dreaded email saying my account is warned.

Tried to look online to see similar experiences and apparently people have been scamming them a lot, but I never returned anything saying it was in an empty box. Really strange, I do a lot of returns but never fraudulently, always return the same item I got. I spend quite a lot on there, but looking around on reddit I don't see how you can get around bans or start with a clean account (somehow they link them together.)

What a dystopian nightmare, imagine being blacklisted from amazon, your life is basically over. Everyone worried about the microchips... but what happens when the only store left in the whole country says you can't buy from them anymore....

But getting a new amazon account shouldnt be any different than anything else really, just use a different email. At one point (I still do, I guess?) I accidentally had 2 amazon accounts. I just forgot I had the first and made a second.

I've looked into it and apparently they have a very intricate system to connect accounts, something to do with they are the biggest provider of internet securities or something like that. I've seen reddit posters say they changed address, credit card, names on both and a new PC and somehow Amazon found them again and instantly banned them. It's not as simple as making a new account, they will find you and apparently they ban everyone in association with you.

We like to laugh at the dystopian futures, but I think we're living in one now with Amazon getting as big as it is. I literally buy everything from them so it would be a huge disaster if I got banned. It's scary seeing how much power one company can have. It almost makes me feel like the situation with FFXI, everything being automated and if you get under their radar you just get banned with no means to fight your case. Apparently Amazon just continually sends generic emails to people who get banned, saying they can't do anything.

I do admit I do a lot of returns but that is only because I buy literally everyday, so I feel I'm still a worthwhile customer but apparently their systems are mostly automated so if you're flagged you can get banned regardless of your worth. Getting them to unban is a mountain of trouble going thru CS reps in India who will just copy paste generic statements.

I dunno, take ***you find on the internet with a grain of salt. I have two active amazon accounts. and my twitch is linked to a third email, so technically, 3 amazon accounts. Not linked in any way.

They even know, I've called before and said I bought something and I don't see the transaction. Turns out I bought it on the other account. and helped me log back into the other one I had forgotten about.

My understanding is if your value to them on a monetary basis is below a certain threshold, you're ***. If you return enough that they lose money from your purchases overall or come close to it they consider you a loss and warn or ban you. I know someone who got banned with no warning for returning enough things that the value of the returned items was higher than the value of the things they kept.

Yeah I think having both TVs returned put me in that threshold as they were combined almost 5k. But i wont say no to a free tv lol, got the LG OLED 65 inch.

Maybe I just wont do returns for a long while until that goes away. The email doesnt even reference the TV tho, it lists 3 random items I know for a fact I returned.


I returned all 3 of those items in exact same box, no issues aside the keurig was not brewing properly.

A friend of mine works in a facility which builds mobility units and prosthetics for children with special needs. It's a pretty big place so they pass around a lot of cards for events like birthdays, bereavements, etc.

At one point this friend had enough of the whole process of trying to come up with something unique for each card, and he actually bought a custom stamp which reads "Take it one day at a time" complete with his signature and a picture of fluttering butterflies.

Part of me really appreciates the genius of coming up with a stamp to save time and energy for the hundreds of cards that he gets on an annual basis. But an even bigger part of me is obsessed with that saying. It applies to virtually every situation: birthdays, weddings, newborns, bereavements, you name it.

So, day 1 of my new FFXI character... Calmwind.

I named him after one of my best buds from back in the day, because I wanted to play Hume but didn't want to just use Face 4 again or whatever. Calmwind was the second PL I met, and the first RDM, and he PL'd me a ton, camped NMs with me a ton, and duo'd ZM16 with me once. It's not the same as playing with him, but I've been out of contact with him since about Heavensward in FFXIV.

I started on Monk in Bastok so I could get +1 to the physical stats except AGI, and because Monk doesn't really need a weapon at the start.

Only meant to record one vid this morning, but wound up recording 3. First one was character creation, then me failing to read Bastok Markets and trying to find a Bastok Markets NPC in Bastok Mines... Did a little fighting. Even though it's been that way for almost a decade now, it's still wild to me that you get the first Weaponskill now at 5 skill instead of 10.

Second recording was impromptu, basically I got overzealous fighting Land Crabs in South Gustaberg, and forgot that Elixirs have a long use time... damn temp items making me think I was gonna get that extra crab in, so I died, but it's ok because apparently no EXP loss under level 31 now? But that prompted the introductory Rhapsodies cutscene where Iroha bursts backwards through time outta one of the Mothercrystals though she's referred to as ??? and saying the year is 898. *Checks current time* Yeah... sure... 898...

This recording led me to show the Leaping Lizzy area, but I was fully intent on stopping the recording so I did. Thought to myself, "If Lizzy spawns, then I'll do another, but there's no way that she spawns before I get too tired to really go on." Well, my old NM instincts kicked in, and I found myself there longer than I care to admit, but it was still only a little more than an hour including the time spent on PHs in the second recording.

Leaping Lizzy spawns, and so I start the recording. By this point, thanks to the improved Chariot Band, I'm at level 17, so she goes down easy.

You obtain a pair of Bounding Boots.

The excitement caused me to continue that recording for another hour and a half. Back in the day I went 1/42 on those boots on Vyre, getting them, finally, one time when I sniped Lizzy on the way back from somewhere else so I could OP Warp to Zitah for a Fafhogg window. So I suppose Calmwind's luck for the rest of the journey is shot. Either that, or he's going to continue getting lucky. He obtained Bounding Boots within the 4 hours of character creation...

Also, looking at the faces in character creator caused a huge nostalgia wave for me, because I still associate all those faces with specific people.

Reading that genuinely made me smile.

Yeah, my little Youtube channel. I'm a complete amateur, in spite of my hundreds of uploads, and I'm improving very slowly over time so... it's not like... good Youtubers lol. I do include voice and talk A LOT, so like... if you don't like my voice then uhh, that'll probably ruin it for ya lol.

I also didn't look up anything, and am just going by memory. I've only got the first two recordings uploaded, because they take roughly the same amount of time to upload(actually a little longer) as they do to record.



In my test recordings I also found out my mic input even maxed doesn't overcome the in game music/sound effects, so I lowered them. Going over them, I still need to lower them, so I might be hard to hear in a lot of places, but my commentary is mostly rambling, so you're not missing much lol (and you probably know more than me anyway).

Is it only on vanilla? Need more graphics enhancements and XIcamera

Oh yeah, it really was classic. Bastok in last place, San d'Oria owns Gustberg.

Its annoying when softwares company decides any random extra security to theirs product, and shove it on the users.

I mean, security isnt just about the software, but the usage, environment, etc.

Shoving a solution is just disregarding to users rights to decide whats safe for him and what not.

Its like: “hey dumb user, you dont know ***about your own security, add your cellphone here, write the X-code and I will ask your credentials every 2h.

And be grateful for that!”

I typically havehad a rotation of passwords that I used for every site. Every so often I'd go around and change all of them. Even if it was a site I hadn't used in a long time, I know it would be one of these passwords so it was easy to not lock myself out from trying.

But yeah, so many web sites now are like "It needs to be minimum 12 characters long with two of each capital letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters" (or similar) that it disrupted my system.

If every site let me use an exclamation mark in my password, I'd probably just adopt that. But some require it, and some won't even allow it. So... uuuuuugh lol

Once i heard about the reason why 6-digits password was no good, why they introduced the restriction of special characters, etc.

Basically if you are using 6 characters, its very likely you gonna use some password like your birthday or other date that is significant to the user, thus easily to figure it.

Probably similar to the special characters, as they force you to not use some password like your name, relative names, date with 8-digits, etc.

Its almost like you forcing the users to use some gibberish as a password.

It kinda makes sense if you see the whole picture. But it starts under the premise that the user by itself will do such thing but thats just partially true.

On the good side, i guess more sites are moving on to SSO. Authenticating everything by google seems the way to go. No reason to store the data in that many databases for any random site over the internet.

Everybody starts somewhere, right? There's no benchmark or magical moment where you suddenly go from amateur to pro. I'm glad you're uploading because I love watching peoples' journeys.

It's funny too because this video starts with you talking about the character-creation stuff and I spent like 10 minutes yesterday going back and watching all of the animations again myself. It's so funny how poorly those models aged. Something about them makes them look even worse (to me, at least) than the in-game models.

There were/are a lot of missteps in FFXI's character-creation. I'd rather they used the in-game models to show you what your character is actually going to look like, maybe making those animations happen using the common engine. They could have spent the resources used to make those high-res faces and janky animation loops on more on more hair colours or something. And then to make three races use two-word names and only allow for a capital letter at the start and no spaces or hyphens is like "what happened?" lol

EDIT: The animations themselves irritate me, too. They should be hyping up each race but they're either goofy or demeaning. Hume guy runs like 5 metres and falls to his knees out of breath, Taru guy trips and spends the next 80% of the loop checking the ground before tripping again anyway. Galka looks like he's taking a dump and then stumbles around like he's drunk. And don't even get me started on the Victoria's Secret Mithra loop, which is a complete misrepresentation for the in-game animations.

If you actually the Cowboy Bebop on it own, their plot and characters, it feels like it was a deeply sad story, which characters are in clear state of desperation: no hopes, no expectations in life. Just living for any adventures that happen to happen in their path. And at the end of day, everything being the very same of the morning.

I kinda feel a certain sorrow after watching this analysis.
