I find it hilarious that the religious right that used to want to censor stuff (and mostly always failed because comedians and film/movie makers always stood upto them) have become totally irrelevant and now the "group that shall not be named" have taken over and are the ones pushing and getting all the censorship they want from everyone everywhere.

Current year is the year of extreme censorship, they are giving the victorians a run for their money. What what? saying words we personally don't like on the intraweb? Expressing your unpopular opinion that I do not like to your friends??? being able to see a booby or naked buttock cheek?? SEEING A WOMAN IN A BIKINI!?! How totally unacceptable!! SMITE HE with extreme voracity immediately!!

The missionaries going to other nations and telling everyone there how they should act, talk and dress didn't go away, we have them today too! They just took on different political and cultural reasons for doing what they do and do it all online on twitter.

Reminds me of a couple of comedians I watch, where the other day one of them mentioned how weird it was that the media censors butts. Presumably 100% of the human beings in the world have butts.

I also find it really funny that you can say "damn" and it's OK, but if you precede it with "God", it's actually the word "damn" that gets censored lol

Hmm, I'm no expert but from what I know, if you dismiss graphics engine and running on switch, BDII isn't that complex of a game.

Yeah, some things you have to change your view on for them to make sense. It's easy to say "they're just words" or "it's just a butt" "it's just a nipple, every mammal has nipples"

Context matters. All butts are not equal. All nipples are not equal. All words are not equal.

In the most basic sense yeah, it's a matter of context. Everything makes sense and nothing makes sense, everything is conflict resolution or mitigation. What is going to give me the least irritation. And sure that can suck too, it's a matter of selfishness. sometimes you have to avoid something just to save yourself the annoyance of the reaction.

Honestly the reason we are getting more and more censorious is because everything is open to everyone and everything is seen by everyone else now. Social media is a curse where everyone has to be in everyone else's business. Fighting game competitions used to be seen by a few hundred people and it was all people of a similar mindset, now if anyone does anything at all that anyone can get upset about it the world gotta know!

You know what used to happen if some dude shouted DAMN GIRL U THICC about Chun Li in a video game competition when he won or there was mass smack talk? everyone laughed and that was it. Now it's an outrage and someone gotta get fired or removed from the competition and the company, advertisers and the person that owns the building it was run have to all answer for what he said!

You can't have a game community calling each other "bad things" on CSGO (that they all think is funny in their community), or a game with an exposed boob in it in the cut scene, or some comedian saying something offensive because someone will record it post it on twitter and all those kinds of people that get offended (that the content was never made for) will get offended together and then the journalists will all make hay out of it and then you have "mass outrage" from 100 people on twitter and they will make out the world is ending.

Not only do these forever offended people enjoy this whole thing (because it gives them a massive power trip to shut things down without ever leaving the house) but it's also really profitable to the outrage rags. As such the things that get people "outraged" now is less about "you did bad thing" and more into the realm of "you didn't do good thing good enough!! this is outrageous!"

This is why we can't have nice things, it was better when stuff was consumed and seen by the people it was made for, and your mom didn't get to see you and have to answer for you teabagging some dudes female avatar on some FPS game. And then kotaku noticing it from a tweet and asking your boss why you haven't been fired from your engineering / medical job yet.

As much as I believe viewing tiddies to be a God given right the new legislations centered around liability are legal shields more than anything. Until you can't sue youtube for claiming that they're mentally scarring little Jimmy because he saw his first vulva, it'll keep getting worse.

People get payed good, even great, money to tell other people what they should be outraged about.

Everytime i replay Breath of fire 3 i learn something new in the lore, took me a while to finally understand teepo is actually Ryu's Blood brother. how many times have i finished this maybe 19,..

i remamber an uncle of mine when i used to play snes DBZ butoden 2 with, he would spam the cheat code to unlock broly on the opening screen and make Broly just say KA KA KA KA KA KA KA KA KA KA KA KA KA KAKAROTO LOL

i hate that i played those games. they were really kinda horrible, but i wanted to do all the special attacks. even worse i could only get roms and played them with a keyboard... legend of the super saiyan was dope af though.
