Just think of all the money the video game industry makes off of micro transactions... people claim they don't want it yet the sales prove otherwise.

it's not about microtransactions but the game allows you to trade up to metals, which in turn you can trade for keys from other money-spending doofuses, which in turn you can trade for a strange weapon
then again, the tf2 economy was absolutely *** the last time I was on it, so I can't imagine how it works now. Offline

I can't imagine anyone playing TF2 so the idea of someone buying skins and weapons in a dead game is odd to me.
It would be like if FFXI charged 3.00 dollars to let your character have green hair that glows...I don't get it probably never will. Offline

i used to participate in the economy a lot when the game was active because having the flashy hats and setups for the classes was fun in its own way, plus i enjoyed playing the game a lot, to begin with
i still have an unusual and some strange weapons for my main class, but I definitely can't see the economy being nearly as active as it used to be. that said, I think it's partly because of the largely uninspired updates and item selection that the game has had since the last "good" update. Offline

I don't know anyone but you that plays it. Sounds like a dead game to me. Offline

TF2 is just like this website it has been on life support for like 10 years. To say this is a thriving community is to avoid reality. There are a few of us that cling to this website. When we know it is basically dead. Nothing wrong with it. But let's face it no one in real life ever heard of this website.

i mean, it has a peak of ~45k which is respectable but it's nowhere near what it used to be.

You want to play TF2 more power to you but don't try to tell me it is a thriving game that everyone is playing.
I didn't even know people still played it to be honest. I'm shocked that 40,000 people even care. I haven't heard anyone talk about that game for like 10 years in real life. fonewear said: » Candlejack said: » fonewear said: » I can't imagine anyone playing TF2 so the idea of someone buying skins and weapons in a dead game is odd to me. actually, i did some digging
40k is not really representative, as a lot of those numbers could be bots and steam tracks the game being "open", not necessarily people "playing". https://teamwork.tf/community/statistics Expansion is live!

A lot of the jungle inferno weapon changes largely affected the way a lot of the weapons worked, making them useless/not as good
ergo, i give less of a heck about going back to tf2. I don't think I've ever seen a game that is less graphically appealing than Team Fortress.

honestly, the tf2 art style is one of my favorites - it's got personality, the characters are well-made, they have both a distinct outline (e.g. easily recognizable) and fitting designs, their personalities are suited to the humour, they're cartoonish but not absurdly so.
There's a lot of small details in the character and world designs that make it what it is, and I appreciate that a lot. I'm not including the hats/skins/etc, because those throw out a lot of the original design concepts (e.g. keeping things retro-future or campy being thrown out the window in favour of pre-order tie-ins and community created content). Despite what it is now, I'd still consider TF2 -as a whole- one of my favorite games from a broader perspective. ^ I have seen this video before, love the song used in it.

The style of it really bugs me in general, though I can understand how the characters work well with the style and they're very recognizable... they just erk me. Kinda like how I can't stand WoW's art style. Phoenix.Sehachan said: » I don't think I've ever seen a game that is less graphically appealing than Team Fortress. I'd say that it's not appealing due to CJ, but some may consider that mean. A random Spath appears.
