I think smoking withdrawals have a pretty large variable on the severity and length. If it's really bad the patches or gum that are made to help people ween off might help you at least get some sleep.

From personal experience with medicine I was on, going cold turkey can be the worst experience possible.

Nobody can get to that level. There's a reason why those who wield whips also have shoulder/neck guards.
