And then while you're drinking you suddenly see a goldfish.
Bismarck.Josiahfk said: » Milk bags must be an east thing, as I've spent 30 years in Canada and travelled all the way to Vancouver and the west coast and I've never seen a store selling milk in bags. Sounds weird. i got some milk bags u can see Bismarck.Misao said: » or to not charge the person buying a drink the extra fee for the bottle As a kid I'd just go recycle it and get that money back lol Swedish life hacks.
If we didn't have money for candy we'd go fish out bottles from the recycling container with a stick
Technically stealing but we just sped up the process and got paid for it glass bottles?
those where dangerous if not traded back for the deposit , especially if people would just toss em around Bismarck.Misao said: » glass bottles? those where dangerous if not traded back for the deposit , especially if people would just toss em around Glass and cans, there's a slot for each in grocery stores here Carbuncle.Skulloneix

When I was little, I visited Grandma in Central America, and she had this little shop out in the country on a dirt road, and she'd sell soda in plastic bags, to keep the bottles.
Soda and Juice in bags sounds normal to me. Milk though??? I guess...might make sense if they still did the glass bottle thing... yeah, we are talking about what, 80's? early 90's?
trash separating and recycling wasn't a big thing back then. 90s, but we've done it for a long time
We recycle a LOT I imagine that talking about recycling in the 80s would get you called communist.
a hippie, but close enough. lol
We would even compost at the cabin so it would be easy to dig up worms for fishing lol
If you have a house here it's not unusual to have a compost pile
There's a difference?
But seriously (for the most part) I'm pro recycling. Heck the town/city I used to live in upgraded the collection site to automate the separation so people don't need to separate it anymore. Which I can certainly understand as people suck. (So does trying to keep multiple bins for different things). We have recycling stations all over the place and a lot of apartment complexes require you to sort at least some your garbage
Recycling culture is pretty recent in Italy. It's only been few years that it's become mandatory to differentiate(sanctions are pretty high too if you don't do it).

Our cabin is pretty old though so it doesn't have electricity without the generator so it was just easier to throw stuff out that way (pretty far from the town too)
I mean we have a small fridge that runs off propane and if it gets full we put some things in a hole in the ground with a lid on top lol We also have a small creek with cold, fresh water from the mountain that we cool drinks in and get water from (have a pipe that leads from the creek that you collect water from) It's pretty basic but it's a place you go to once a year or so, no big deal Offline

We have a garbage and recycling pick up here in Thunder Bay (Because I'm in Ontario with Ina, muahahahaha! but probably not the same city)
Ontario and Quebec still sell milk in plastic bags, which I find disgusting, because you can't reseal it once it's opened. And you have to have a separate milk jug for it, most of which don't come with any sealable lids. kitchen life ruins these moments in a lapse of judgment that because it's 20 cents cheaper, it's a better deal, when it goes bad faster. So I buy the big plastic milk jugs. They keep longer, and have a resealable topper. |
