Thought this was interesting Quote: A top leadership candidate in Hong Kong has been banned from running in the upcoming elections after the government declared he "cannot possibly fulfill his duties as a legislator" while also pledging allegiance to his pro-independence party. Chan Ho-tin of the Hong Kong National Party is part of a separatist movement that is largely on the fringe but gaining momentum ahead of the September election. Election officers have issued warnings to all candidates that they must vow to uphold Hong Kong's mini-constitution, officially called the Basic Law. It's a doctrine that includes a declaration stating the city is an "inalienable" part of China. Before being disqualified, Chan signed the pledge to uphold the Basic Law, which has governed Hong Kong since the former British colony was handed back to China in 1997. But Hong Kong authorities were skeptical, and Saturday they declared that Chan's party is "inconsistent with the constitutional and legal status of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region." They added that "if a person advocates or promotes the independence of the HKSAR, he cannot possibly uphold the Basic Law." The Hong Kong National Party responded with a statement saying it is "truly proud" to be the "first party to be barred from a democratic election by the Communist colonial government of Hong Kong." The party calls for revoking Basic Law and the Sino-British Joint Declaration and establishing a new constitution. Many of the Hong Kong National Party followers come from a spontaneous revolution that began in 2014 but has since dwindled in momentum. Since the handover from Britain, Hong Kong has been governed under China's principle of "one country, two systems" -- giving it rights and freedom unseen in the mainland and paving the way for a generation of protesters. But in September 2014, in the heart of Hong Kong, something changed. Police in riot gear moved in on peaceful pro-democracy protesters, using tear gas to disperse the crowds. From these clashes emerged the Umbrella Movement, named for the umbrellas the protesters used to shield themselves from the tear gas and pepper spray. For 79 days, thousands of protesters occupied Hong Kong's financial district and elsewhere to demand true universal suffrage -- one person, one vote, without the interference of Beijing. But their demonstrations failed, and true democracy remains elusive. Since then, there have been growing concerns that Beijing is increasingly asserting its authority over Hong Kong, and many young activists avoid travel into mainland China. Don't need to discuss it or anything, just good to keep up with something other than the US election Bismarck.Dracondria said: » until tomorrow Unless Rooks burns the place to the ground before then. *Nudge-nudge, wink-wink* It's Sunday here you noob

So, I finally got bored enough to fall to the darkside and try out the infamous MERP. I wasn't really trying, and my intention was to do what I always do in this scenario, try it out, if it doesn't work, go back to watching political videos about how bad this election has been etc.
Well this person I messaged last night on Balmung, who didn't respond to me last night, came out swinging at me today, holy ***. They took me to a far off site with kink lists and crazy ***I'd never even heard of. They were really polite, and fed me ideas for the RP. Then they were like, "Well, we could postulate all day, but at some point we're just gonna have to wing it." So we started in an chat type thing that was outside of XIV, so there wouldn't be a text limit. They said that text limits bothered them... and then I found out why. I started with a simple paragraph for the lead-in/setup. They replied with 5 paragraphs of solid, novel worthy literature. I actually felt dumb reading it. If it wasn't for me having a fairly strong vocabulary, and fairly good grasp on written English, I don't think they would have stuck around. They never once complained though, and I felt so conflicted lol. On the one hand, I've been bashing Balmung for how silly and ridiculous and gross some of these RP people are(as I type this, there's some RPers trying to RP a 14 yr old and a 35 yr old talking said 14 yr old out of trying to be his friend... yeah, they specfically said their character ages in /say, *** weird). On the other hand, this writer is just *** taking me for a ride(Hah, phrasing). That ***was hot, and not just cause of the smut, but because it was so eloquently written. It was a word porn written about the smut on hand. It was a porn within a porn, pornception. Like by comparison, at least to my mind, I might as well have picked up a boy doll and a girl doll and smashed them together wildly. I felt and was inferior lol, and I guess I can't talk ***about RPers on Balmung anymore. /looks at /say, uhh, nevermind you went full f-list didn't you. YOU NEVER GO FULL F-LIST
