Hehe, ya know it's funny when I was playing I've always seen you around lots of times, but I don't think I've seen Jeanpaul ever, which is strange, btw whenever I saw you, at least in the old days you were always (unless I'm wrong) a bst and I heard a really good one too, when bst was a job everyone respected, god I miss old bst.
If you still play, i don't really log myself out thats why you probably see me everywhere. :)
I unsubbed about a year ago but only because I don't have a credit card, had to use those crappy green dot cards and SE decided to in a Dumb Voice: "Hey let's get rid of Ultimate Pay cards so only people with actual Credit Cards can play!" so I got screwed now I am only able to play on free weeks whenever they show up,(Which is this next week) so yeah, story of my life.

Honestly I don't think BST ever really had any respect throughout its lifetime. In the early day it was seen strictly as a solo class for antisocials and people that ruined their reputations.
Then when they got a massive familiar buff, people saw it as a bandwagon class with no nuance other than throwing animals til whatever dies, and thus became a "free lunch" so to speak, which probably made many salty AF.

I get that they nerfed range, but it still doesnt mean if you want a quick and easy grind that BST is OP as hell. In comparrison to the armor spec required from BLU to get to that level of strength.
However BLU, when geared properly, can easily out DPS a BST. Same With any job. But it's just the sheer fact that BST can DPS so fast and so high, with so little armor and so little time.

Also because it never fit nicely into the old tank, DD, black mage, support mage groupings.
Same as BLU, PUP, and even DRG to some extent.

Yeah it left alot people with a bad taste in their mouths, course everyone was saying the same thing about SAM too, but I never saw BST as an antisocial thing at least to me, but I did know one BST on Sylph from the old days that was exactly how you described it, I can't think of his name it's on the tip of my tongue, anyways he even made his own LS with just him by himself, guy was totally a people hater yet plays on a MMO full of them, but then again you don't have to have a love for humanity to play an MMO.

Well, to be fair, in the early days BST was kind of shoehorned into being a solo class because of the EXP penalties of having a pet in the party. Sadly when that penalty was removed, it was already far too late to begin making it a viable party/alliance class. Though it would have been perfect for anything that required peeling off adds.

Sorry everyone didn't mean to drag RT into a job wars thingy, though I am sad that DDs are becoming an urban legend now, but that's just me though, but I am sure I am wrong to some extent... but then again, I play the way I wanna play but at the same time I make sure to try to keep pace with gear standards to the best of my ability.
