lol yeah I spammed enter and ended up sitting there for like 45 minutes to an hour just reading how my chocobo hates me and ran off and probably got ate or something by a hungry galka or something.

To get around with, I mean.

Just feed it Vomp Carrots (or sandy carrots if you're cheap) x3 until it reaches adulthood then do Vomp Carrots x2 Sharug Greens x2, feeding them one by one.
Care plans are Take a Walk in Town -> Carry Packages until it caps STR/END(SS), then switch to Digging for Treasure if your Chocobo wasn't born with Gallop, feed it Zegham Carrots x2 Azouph Greens x1, get it to D and teach it Story of an Impatient Chocobo then change your plan back to Carry Packages and Vomp Carrotsx2, Sharug Greenx2 until it caps STR/END again.
Try to get your Chocobo born with Canter, but that only adds 5min riding time so not a huge deal.

Would probably be SS/SS/C/D, that's the most you can get with two SS'd stats.

But how do you get it born with Canter anyway? I'd imagine I have to do some breeding.

Yes, stats cap at 637 total. You can 'artificially' boost stats with saddles during races, but that's about it.

You need to have the parent Chocobos with Canter (I believe as the first ability in the slot, but not sure) and have their Receptivity be decently high (C+ preferably) and do the care plan that makes it so the chick takes the traits from one of the parents (IE Sports Plan). Reading the egg's description should say "Somewhat warm" or "Little warm".

It's on the JP site, it's mostly to do with color%, but I've always had my chocobos born with Canter when I have a higher egg warmth. Could be totally unrelated, idk.

Yeah the 100~150x egg check thing works like a charm.
Actually it's not the food that makes them hate you it's the care plans, but same difference. You need to feed it greens to maintain max affection. If you *** up royally you can always feed it a Cupid Worm, but it damages your stats.
