Because on a 32bit OS it's impossible for the unpacker thread to allocate enough memory for unpacking. As the OP there stated, you get it to unpack slower if you have less than 1GB of free memory (on a 64bit OS) but on a 32bit OS the unpacking simply can't start even if you have enough free memory.

I loved 'Fantastic Planet'--was really bizarre. I couldn't stop watching it, even if the story was just so-so...just very engaging in a cult-movie fashion. Kind of like 'Zardoz' in that way, lol. :p

I tried Winrar, 7Zip and the self extraction stub on the 64 bit W7 machine...

Yeah my advice is to let the update run overnight, it's how I handle huge downloads and uploads
