I might have to give this game a try. It looks interesting and was/is popular.

EDIT: Retro ONRY!

(Current one I'm playing now then I'll move on to another one)

Time to grab some smokes and snacks first.

I haven't had time to really play any games in months. Last game I played was a few round of C&C Generals Zero Hour: Rise of the Reds mod.

It's nice to finally have some time off.

I got the Witcher 3 like 2 months ago and I can't seem to get into it. I don't play a lot of games during the summer. I try to do other stuff like drink more !
On Saturday I think a friend of mine and I are going to see who drink a 5 liter jug of wine first. Maybe... lol

RPG-wise, it's better than anything else in the 8 bit era, no contest (and better than quite a few things in the 16 bit era). I love me some FFI but PS was just so much better, and really showcased what a superior piece of hardware the SMS was. Better graphics, deeper world, better UI, better everything.

I played FF III as a translated rom, that was cool. II was kinda, ugh.

Buy yeah 8bit was kinda lagging. Zelda I was good, but II was meh.

Crystalis was good too, but that's not turn based either.

Yea I know it isn't really old but it is definitely old.

It came out in 2004 in Japan. 2005 in America I probably put 100 hours into that game.

I couldn't get into that game, slow combat and unvoiced protagonist didn't really get me interested

Might give it a go sometime though

It definitely is slow at the start. It takes a good bit of time to get into it.

I absolutely hated the random encounters at first. But after a while it isn't so bad.

Unfortunately for SEGA, the use of memory mapper (memory management chips) capable of swapping graphics memory banks made the NES/Famicom so versatile it crushed the SMS and could even annoy the Mega Drive/Genesis on the animation department.

That "feature" allowed the NES to swap large portions of graphics memory to achieve background animations without need to forward large chunks of data through the graphics chip registers interface.

That alone made kids prefer the 16 colors NES instead of the 64 colors SMS which was stuck with simpler palette animations because it had a pretty fixed/limited video memory interface.

I didn't like the way they looked, with the menu and then 3 mobs above it

I like it when you can see all the people fighting at the same time

I have very few games that were even made in the past 5 years. On top of that, I usually put a 1-2TB storage drive, for things like that, torrents, etc.

Not to mention I have my NAS for after I torrent something.

The biggest game I play is XI, and I run it out of VMs anyway.

Plot for Iron-Blooded Orphans.
Quote:
It is a world roughly three hundred years after the end of a great conflict known as the "Calamity War".

The Earth Sphere lost its previous system of government and a new world was built with a new ruling system. While a transient peace had come, the embers of a new conflict was born on Mars, far removed from Earth.

The main character, a young boy named Mikazuki Augus, belongs to the civilian security company Chryse Guard Security (CGS). He is tasked with guarding Cuderia Aina Bernstein, a young girl who is trying to make the Martian city of Chryse independent from the rule of one of Earth's powers.

However, the CGS comes under attack from the armed organization Gjallarhorn trying to nip the bud of insurrection, so Mikazuki and the children start withdrawing as a decoy. The leader of the boys, Orga Itsuka, takes advantage of this occasion to rise in revolt against the adults who oppressed them and stages a coup d'etat.

Mikazuki, who was entrusted to fend off the Gjallarhorn by Orga, takes up the fight by using the Gundam Barbatos, a mobile suit from the "Calamity War" that was utilized as a nuclear reactor by the CGS.

I absolutely loved that game, but on the original cartridge version, I got stuck at the part where you had to find the woman's necklace in order to access the last town. It wasn't until years later that I found out from an online FAQ that it was in a random corner of a cave tunnel that you accessed with your dolphin.

I finally got that necklace playing a ROM version, but I still don't think I ever bothered finishing the game.

Amazon has backed off it's regional restrictions on Amiibos for whose who are interested. Can now order from Europe and Japan. Japan is apparently cheaper then Europe.

Interestingly enough both Europe and Japan launch their Amiibo lines 1-2 months ahead of the US. So it is possible to order them and get them before pre-orders are even up in the US, at a greater cost of course.

How to tell your six year old is trolling you:

1.) Words he has difficulty with off his first grade sight-word list: them, give, before, have.

2.) Words he just read off the Wendy's bag: mega spaceship, astronaut, satellite.
