I'd say the movies are worse since the series' popularity exploded after the first one
I don't always watch anime. But when I do, I prefer dubs.

American voice actors always run their roles like if they were playing Hamlet or some other work from Shakespeare.

It really depends on the dub for me. Naruto had an absolutely awful dub, but Death Note had a pretty good dub.
It seems like the long lasting shonen anime like Naruto, Bleach or One Piece are awful dubbed, but the quick 2 season max anime are ok.
Of course people take it too far and try to get things like Avatar TLA or LoK dubbed into Japanese.

Funimation does dubs very well. There's a few series like Yuyu Hakusho and FMA Brotherhood that I think the dub is fantasic, and the dub of Ghost Stories is 10/10 worldclass because they got to ignore the original script and wing it for pure comedy gold.

All of the Scions have awful VA's tbh lol. Thancred was alright and Moen.
There are some good VA's though, the new fancy pants from ishgard had a really good VA and I quite like Lolorito and Teledji Adeledji

Peter Dinklage is just a better actor than voice actor, I don't understand how major developers think they are interchangeable.
There's only a few people that can do both (Morgan Freeman, Stephen Fry)

Everyone in JP sounds too young. Urianger is old as hell and he sounds 20.
