Honestly, it's written into thousands of years of evolution to enjoy bacon.

It has all the major components that hominids struggled to get for the first 95% of the species' survival. Salt, fat, protein. All it would need is carbohydrate to quite literally be a king of food.

Because of these things, the human tongue interprets it as immensely tasty.

Actually the point I was going to make is that perhaps Flavin lacks the part of the human genome that still says "gorge, gorge my pretties!" and hence bacon really wouldn't taste good without that.
