It's not worth it for gil anymore, unless of course you simply enjoy fishing
I'm pretty sure the two vanity items from frilled sharks haven't even been obtained on my server. They'd probably go for 5 mil a piece.
Of course even if I get the rod there's a huge time investment before I even get a single frilled shark.

Oh, back when I stopped playing xi all I was doing was fishing with my Lu's. Have 110 fishing on that character still but they went and nerfed Haks anyway.
I was going to try and get some Ebisu's but I just went ahead and sold my Lu's after the june nerf :/

It's uhhh, simple button hitting. No mini game at all so it's really easy to do while watching streams or whatever. Harder fish to catch just rely on mooching which is using a HQ fish to fish another fish. Some even require double or triple mooches, so they're a big time sink.
Finally got to 50. The grind is real with no leves :(

still need to do my armorer 30->50, blacksmith 5->50, goldsmith 1->50, and weaver 1->50. think I'll skip 50ALC since I'm not going to make any recipes that would benefit from 14 extra CP after 8 turns, got tricks tho
I had cul 50 so I decided to work my way up the list. And I really like how the af for alc looked :D Next is leatherworker. Not too excited :|
Oh yeah I need that one too. I like how they all end up working together since combining all the abilities together is so strong. I haven't got the patience to grind them without leves though. I go to 20-25 on GC buff books then do leves to 50 (helps that I can HQ my own items now). Means I need to wait a week or so for each craft

I've literally desynthed about 60 of those for Minefield but haven't gotten them.
And you have to have to the rod for frilled sharks. No going about it anyway else. You need that 10 gathering or you can't even get them.

Even with FC buff, perfect gear, and HQ spinach quiche, you're 2 gathering short.
