Should test scores really be determined based on a Gaussian fit? The model seems to work if the average of a test score is say, 50 but the further away to the extremes you get, less this model works. In an average university, an "average" is usually a B, and one standard deviation(sigma) denotes an increase of one level grade, this system doesn't work with scores that are very low or very high. Some may argue that this is based on the poor design of the test but on the otherhand, don't you think it's a poor choice of statistical analysis?

Scores in university here are 18-30 for exams(below 18 you fail), and 60-110(optional laudae) for graduation.
