lol they're both still running ok (a three year-old Macbook Pro and a five month-old Macbook Air—I bought the Air to replace the Pro, because I started walking to work every day and the two pound difference really helps!)

I know this is probably a stupid question, but if I pre-order a physical copy of FFXIV, it says it's available to pick up the day of release. If that's the case, how will I be able to access it early?
I'm new to this pre-ordering (or ordering a new game in general) thing, so I'm totally clueless as to how all this stuff works.

Okay, so the early access thing will be a separate client. I thought it might be something like that but I wasn't sure.

Now I just have to decide between buying it from Amazon and having it arrive a day or two after release, or buying it from GameStop (something I've never done) and picking it up the day it comes out.
I know Old Republic and Tera did it. Can't remember off the top of my head but I believe Guild Wars and Rift did as well.
