This is okay for your price range but certainly not future proof.

That's pretty similar to one of the ones I found on Microcenter's website. It was a bit higher priced but it has a slightly better processor and video card.

The only other option I see to make use of his current laptop is if it has VGA or HDMI output built into the side... Then he'd just have to hope someone would have a monitor/tv that he could hook it into.
It'd be a major inconvenience, but it'd keep his laptop going a bit longer. Unrelated... I should look into finding someone who would be willing to buy this when it arrives, since it was free with my video card purchase.
Your text to link here... Another monday morning. Freaking pollen all over the place. I don't have any allergies but my sinuses still dont like this over abundance of dust and pollen. That and my car windshield is almost impossible to see through thanks to the coating it recieved of the stuff. That is the only reason why spring sucks.
other than that bring on the warm weather! Sylph.Spency said: » I had a thin red line down my screen. I read up on it and found out it was a disconnected pixel or some ***. To get ird of it, I had to sort of massage the screen near the bezel to knock it back in place. Well, I pressed too hard lol yeah I saw it after realizing I hadn't loaded the screen in some time...
depends how old/crappy the current laptop is, and how good you are with ribbon cables and a tiny screwdriver. (if you can take apart a PS2 and put it back together and have it work, you can do a laptop). but if it's a few years old: most likely not worth it, and any of those options would probably do (minus the dell and toy obviously) I'd probably go with the Asus though, as I have yet to play with Lenovo and Acer has been known to make garbage, despite their ravenous fan base with their tablets... May be worth looking into dual booting with a linux variant if you like to watch a lot of porn though, Ubuntu is supposed to be very user friendly. and dear Kalila: you do realize that you cannot directly compare different cpu architectures, right? there's a variety of application processors and they aren't even the only type of processors... Yep ... much difference noticed :p went from ... uh ... 4GB? to 16GB alone was well noticed just in photoshop :3 Siren.Kalilla said: » Jetackuu said: » and dear Kalila: you do realize that you cannot directly compare different cpu architectures, right? kind of my point: you cannot compare with what you posted, are they are entirely different animals. in comparison: your cpu benchmarks at 810... my laptop (and desktop) both bench about 3000, and my new build does 7145... (granted my laptop was $1500 in 2010, and the new build is pretty boss). Leviathan.Catnipthief said: » lol I finally upgraded my PC after like 7 years of the same old core 2 duo CPU ... I'm always in photoshop so it was such a hassle trying to multitask on things on my old system, now it's not that big of a deal anymore really~ The only thing I will be upgrading in the future is getting a SSD and MAYBE a upgraded GPU. ah nvm, a simple search answered my question. I had sushi from RA for lunch...

probably not my best idea but now I have less than 5 hours to do a project. I better get crackin' oh and Kalila: you call me Jeta again, and I'll get out the fat Rukia pics. Our little Maggie is growing up!
