Taco Bell Lawsuit

A law firm is claiming that Taco Bell serves "meat" that is less than 35% beef.

Guess the old adage holds true here:

"you get what you pay for"

Pro-tip: Fast food is mostly crap.

Don't order it expecting it to be grade A cuts of meat or food.

you order it because it tastes nice and it's fast.

All I can think of when I hear Taco Bell is diarrhea. Totally worth it though.

I read "GARBAGE" as "CABBAGE" on my first go.

Oddly, some part of me was relieved when I realized it was "GARBAGE"

The advertising is technically true.

It has Beef in it, right? Whether it's 1%, 35% or 100%, it's still has beef in it.

Every one knows the meat used by taco bell is the same quality as pet food.(like grade D or E or something like that) Not to mention how the food is prepared and handled. You think your gonna get a 5 start meal for 99 cents? If you eat there, you eat at your own risk. Dont blame anyone but yourself. The same goes for many other places fast food places such as Arby's. Theres a reason why there is a difference between an "Arby's Melt" and an "Arby's Roast Beef melt". They companies dont really try to hide this fact, they just use crafty names for their products while staying out of the "False-Advertising" arena.

What's how I read it.

It's all just a ploy to steal money.

besides, Taco Bell doesn't claim it's 100% Beef, it just says Beef.

In other words, you didn't read the article. Federal law imposes regulations on these kinds of things, and the beef content in said product is allegedly too low to be legally advertised as beef.

Not that I care, it's common knowledge the meat there is crap but I still grab a gordita or crunchwrap every now and then.

Taco Bell is so gross, I hate it when a friend wants me to go there for something to eat with them.

I think the real fail is here is that there's a "meatless" option

The USDA has criteria that must be met for meat to be labeled "beef" on packaging or restaurant menus.

If they didn't do this, someone could (for example) serve you rat intestines and call it "seasoned beef".

The issue here is not whether or not Taco Bell serves low-grade/quality meat. I'm pretty sure everyone already knew that before today.

The issue is that Taco Bell shouldn't be allowed to advertise they are selling/serving "beef" tacos if they aren't selling/serving legitimate/legal actual beef.

Ask yourself:
If Taco Bell advertisements and menus offered you "meat product tacos" instead of "seasoned beef tacos", would you be as likely to drool over them?

I sincerely hope not.
And, in fairness to consumers, and to competing businesses, Taco Bell should have to advertise their products accurately.

This lawsuit will be fun to follow, I think.

If the employees at the corporate office dont eat their product....you probably shouldnt either.

As long as it don't kill anybody and it's tasty, who cares?

I mean when you were younger and you ate Chicken McNuggets, you ate Kangaroo for christ sake.

Here is what the FDA has to say per definition of "Ground Beef:"



"ec. 319.15 Miscellaneous beef products.


(a) Chopped beef, ground beef. "Chopped Beef" or "Ground Beef"
shall consist of chopped fresh and/or frozen beef with or without
seasoning and without the addition of beef fat as such, shall not
contain more than 30 percent fat, and shall not contain added water,
phosphates, binders, or extenders. When beef cheek meat (trimmed beef
cheeks) is used in the preparation of chopped or ground beef, the amount
of such cheek meat shall be limited to 25 percent; and if in excess of
natural proportions, its presence shall be declared on the label, in the
ingredient statement required by Sec. 317.2 of this sub-chapter, if any,
and otherwise contiguous to the name of the product."
