Ok I have 2 dark rings with 2 different augments. I cannot macro them both. One is 6 % pdt the other is 6% mdt Is there a way beyond my know how to make it possible to macro in or spellcast it in. Are they recognized as 2 diff rings possibly somehow. Or am i gonna end up tossing the mdt and say DAMN!

There's no way to identify them individually. Also, don't toss, NPC!

What you want is two rings with high PDT and MDT so that you don't have to discriminate between them.

Time stamp. Least that's how it works for me(Not Fayrra btw...Fahzewn).
Whatever ever item you got last will be the first to be equipped.

But yeah...getting one with multi augments would help.

Or if you can identify when you'll be wanting one or the other, you can sack/satchel the unneeded one. Not terribly convenient, sure, and idk you may want to have both accessible all the time.

Or, equip both and deal.

Or yeah, go get a combo one.

Still, grats on the good rings.

Sadly, best you can do is have your PDT/MDT macros equip 1 Dark Ring and 1 normal ring. Satchel or Sack the one you won't be planning on using much for the fight. If you know you'll be taking a lot of physical damage, then put that in your inventory.

Side note: Has anyone seen 6% PDT and 6% MDT on a ring yet? Got quite a few rings yesterday, but nothing amazing. Does building more and more amber(past the point of large boxes) increase the power in your rings(and maybe allow for a Wivre Hairpin with refresh)?

The one you don't want to use at the given time just slip it in your Mog Sack.

I "heard someone say they saw one," but... yeah. Best I've seen is -5 both magic and phys.

I did do that myself...but have 3 of em. One with 6% magic like Dead, another with 3% physical and 3% breath, third was 3% magic and 3% breath. Macros wasn't that hard to get both to work when needed.

I've seen 6/5/5 PDT/MDT/BDT, don't see why it couldn't happen. The perfect combo is just exceedingly rare.

Did you keep making amber lights well past the large boxes for that?

Aren't there some abyssites that improve the drops for this sort of thing. One's from completing all the zone bosses, right?

Don't remember, doesn't matter, but probably not. Once you're capped, you're capped.

They up the initial quality of chests but once capped they're not doing anything for you.

Get rid of the lower resistance rings. Stick with the 6% ones until you've gotten same stats but rings combined. Keep the mdt and pdt 6% ones for now. imo

MDT is easy to cap w/ shellra V, just use merman's rings.

I've faced the same dilemma, which is why I'm continuing the 60-90hr+ struggle to obtain Dark Rings. In your situation, you can settle for inventory-2 and use Jelly + Mermans ring for 11PDT and 10MDT. As mentioned earlier, MDT caps faster than PDT due to shell V (Only need 26MDT) and merited shellra V (Only need 23MDT). Given that ring and mermans, you're looking at 16MDT to make up for at most. Twilight torque puts you at 11MDT to cover. This is achievable using a combination of merman earrings and visible gear (Varies by class).

Well not to brag but other ring is a defending ring so i have a slot open for both of them. I will try to see which ring gets equipped first. then go by that see how it works.

As Tiger said, MDT is easy to cap with Shell V. Probably stick with the physical ring while using Merman's for MDT till you get a good multi aug. one. You obviously don't want to move the D. ring for anything else.

Surprised no one mentioned this. I do realize it has been some time since this was posted and that you've probably solved your dilemma by now. However, hopefully this can help someone; Macro in to equip both, knowing which one will equip first, have a second /equip ring# to put on the other one you'll want for the situation.
For example.
/equip ring1 "dark ring"
/equip ring2 "dark ring"
/equip ring1 "jelly ring"

-in the situation that your MDT ring equips first, and would therefore be ring1.

I've also noticed that my macros don't equip 2 of the same name items in a row. To solve that I simply put /equip ring1 at the beginning of my macros, and /equip ring2 at the end. Though if you're using in-game macros, all of this could be quite a hassle.

my situation sucks, I have a 6 % pdt a 6% mdt and a Defending ring I cant figure out how to equip the correct ring for the right situation. Example I need mdt i leave dring on but need the mdt dark ring, but the 2 rings are named the same. Understand my unique dilemma only way i can see fixing it is if I only put on ring in inventory at once or kep farming til i get 2 rings with 6% on both

Does his post make sense to you? It's not the best solution, but it would help.

Funny how I was going to make a topic asking the best way to farm dark rings and here I have two answers lol. Im not sure if I'm suppose to cap my amber or keep it between certain numbers; and I'm sure your supposed to have decent or capped pearl right? And furthermore which mob would be easiest to amber and pearl and job set ups? I tried with whm mnk got 1 ring with -phys dmg 3% that's it and some other aug items.
