Because AGI doesn't do anything except add about 5 base damage to your WS. STR adds damage to everything, auto attacks and WS.

hmmm i admit i don't look at wiki and other sites math on ws's to much but sense blade hi is based on agi and i think its dex as its second mod? wouldn't a agi or dex katana effect its dmg more?

DEX affects the crit hit, but is not a mod.

Just to confirm on the ninja forums. K club off hand is not worth the loss in dot even if you are essentially doubling your ws dmg (most the time) by doing self darkness with blade hi to blade hi ? Abysea only maybe ?

i guess it depends what the dmg pure sc adds up to also more tp feed could be bad sense could prob only do on NMs and we know how nasty those can be if feed tp though nin spells and job trait do help a bit

Most of a Ninjas damage comes from the TP phase- You're demeaning this damage using a Kraken Club because of nins low club skill.

If anything, k club has more use outside abyssea because of the brokeness of apoc atma. I only use kraken on nin for procs and if I'm in a situation where I want to be WSing quickly (say helping a friend break thier trial wep)

Current Hi set I'm using

Actually running into a mix up advice here, if anyone wants to clarify where/if theres something wrong with my Hi set

1. Is it windbuffet > anguinus belt/chuch/gorget?
2. Does the Ranc/hope combo beat athe/rancor ?
3. Does thaumas gloves with set bonus beat sieryu kote with +3 crit rate?
4. Agi +6 haidate beats kecks/tights ?

I've been in and out of this thread picking up info here and there from people who've been in the spread sheets parsed the dmg, but everytime I think I find something, someone somewhere contradicts it.

Any advice would be nice.

Edit: dont really have that moonshade, It's the only thing Im missing from this set, and set it as a goal to obtain. Everything else I have

Blade: Hi with Berserk, Warcry, Razed Ruins, Gnarled Horn, and Sanguine Scythe can hit around 5200 on Manigordo in Abyssea - Altepa.
I'm planning on dumping new merit points from last update's Ability cap increase into AGI since I'm Elvaan and agility impaired by nature. (ô_ô)

Quoting as I have the same questions (on a general level, typical for Abyssea as I rarely use NIN for anything outside, but assuming outside sets for DC dyna mobs as a baseline - Mithra 12/12 STR merits, 4/12 DEX (for now, soon to be 12). I have S. kote with AGI+3 Crit+3 - wondering if that beats 4/5 Thaumas/Athos both inside and out and whether or not its worthwhile to continue augmenting my Byakko's Haidate when I have both Athos's Tights and Thaumas Kecks in my arsenal. I have AGI+6 but lack a crit augment because synergy is being stingy with that synth.

All from Mote's sheet:

1. Yes. Windbuffet, typically wins. Even outside, Thaumas 3/5 + Athos's.
2. Yes. Hope + Rancor back.
3. Seiryu should win making Thaumas 3/5. Especially, any extra AGI augs (I thought 4/5 won, but something must have changed or glitched the matrix).
4. Thaumas.

I wouldn't merit AGI, for previous posters, but that's me. And I wouldn't use SS over Apoc since SS let's you do pretty Hi numbers but chokes your DPS by a hefty chunk (20+ DPS?). Again, just me.

Edit: Outside - Crudelis.

Without any Thaumas you'll need to look in to using/getting...

Outside you'll want to use Iga ningi +2, Hope torque & koga kyahan +2.

Swap your inside belt for Anguinus and your outside belt with windbuffet~

I have everything except for the Hope torque, but the Nefarious collar should be able to fill the gap nicely.

Something like this I suppose:

Outside:

Inside:

Augments:

Katana:
STR Arisui

Seiryu's:
Evasion+4
"Store TP"+4
Crit.hit Rate +2

Byakko's:
AGI+4
"Store TP"+4
Crit. hit damage +4%

Why would you wear Nefarious over Rancor Collar (inside or outside)? Is it not 3% vs 5% Crit. Hit Rate?

After going through probably about 200 scraps, I finally pulled this thing out of a synergy pot:

I know most people like using a lot of Thaumas for their Hi sets, but I'm wondering if this set is worthwhile:

The Seiryu's has Crit Rate +3 of course. Athos' Boots mainly for the set bonus, which gives an extra 3% crit rate if I'm not mistaken.

With those amazing pants, i think id put down my thaumas kecks too. The above set looks pretty dang good to me with a hope torque & hopefully a STR katana.

5925 on a Frigatebird in Abyssea - Misareaux with this set. Would a Hope Torque, Ambusher's Hose, Centaurus Earring and maybe a Shadow Belt be a significant improvement? It was suggested to me that I get rid of the Dual Wield items for better TP return on Hi.

You got the right idea, except for the belt which usually has Anguinus stuck there.

Belt can vary quite a bit depending on circumstances. Attack isn't especially significant in Abyssea at 99, so Crudelis isn't a bad choice.
