I have 150 dex in my outside TP gear, so it sounds like the info I was given was pretty close to being correct.

Do you parse your results to see if it is capped?

The number you were given, roughly 140 dex is typically assumed of Abyssea NQ Mobs - it's not a parsed number, it's a basic average to loosely calculate dDex.

dDex is a calculation between PC's dex vs mobs agi - if you have 150 dex outside, that would "probably" apply well up to VT even.. depending on the type of mob. A thief mob, for example, will have a much higher agi than a blm class mob.

I don't know the actual numbers and they would require parsing to test the thresholds, but typically having more than 140 dext is gonna bring that crit ceiling up nicely and it's not a bad median rule of thumb to use for guesstimation.

In terms of str/dex/agi etc what are you full time NINs meriting now-a-days? I know most people used to just go full STR for most DD jobs. Are full time Blade Hi NINs going AGI or DEX (for outside)

How much is STR going to help a NIN outside with the attack boost?
Would DEX or AGI trump it for over all effectiveness?

Specifically speaking about Taru

Pretty much any race should get full str merits. Inside of abyssea, Dex or STR merits wont really matter but for outside, STR should go a long way.

lol@capping attack on anything that matters in newer 6 zones without brd/cor support. Not worth it carrying around drone earrings and such. Just not going to happen on nin even with zerk and RCB.

Wonder if new hat beats anwig with ws DEX/AGI+4 and crit hit dmg/ ws dmg +2% in abyssea.

Outside I think it wins easily.

New NMs have pretty ridiculous AGI, I wouldn't count on getting much critrate out of Ocelomeh on them. I'd use Ocelomeh for EM-VT content (varying slightly with race/merits) and a well-augmented Shura Kabuto +1 for the rest.

Situational, I use Anguinus in my low DEX sets and Cuch in most of my high DEX sets. I'll post some sets for this update in a bit, working on them now.

I'm not a big fan of Iga Dochugappa. It's one of the bigger sacrifices you can make in terms of damage -> DEX; if you're at the point where you'd need it to cap critrate (after making less lossy swaps elsewhere) then the difference between a DEX set and a full damage set is going to be very small, potentially nonexistent or favoring the full damage set depending on how precisely you're hitting the dDEX cap. I stored mine a while ago and haven't regretted it.

Blade:Hi - Highest Damage WS set in Abyssea as Mithra with Str Merits Using Razed Ruins, Gnarled Horn, and Apocalypse. Food = Marinara Pizza +1. Has been tested and parsed, as well as used in depth NinDPS.xls

I spent time also entering in the new gear released to compare to this set inside within Worksheet(abyssea) and this still remains the best even when up against newer gear. Although I have not obviously field tested it with parser.

I am in near future also going to test with out abyssea enhancements since we all hope much more end game content will be away from Abby Expansion and will post findings (Just pure math, not field testing till much later).

EDIT: Bah item set placed katanas in wrong slots. I will fix later Night (*^.^*)

Pretty sure anwig and byakko's with crit hit damage +4% (especially if you can get lucky with some AGI+ as well) blow v helm and ambusher's out of the water.

Also the amount of mobs in abyssea, especially after new level cap, that you should be using pizza on.. I could probably hold on one hand.

Otomis that set looks good before the sky augmented update, just looks like the old best set. obviously below assumes the best augments you can get on each piece crit dmg+/ws dmg+ etc

byakko > ambushers
Rancor Collar > Hope Torque > Elemental
Shura Zunari Kabuto +1 > Anwig > (I think even Bersail Cap > V Helm if you got a decent amount of attack in other slots/food RCB+1 maybe zerk up would be the difference maker etc)

this is generally speaking there could be some situational changes but for the most part that's the order. that new Oce. Headpiece +1 prolly fall right after anwig. If there are other new better pieces since the latest update I just don't know them yet. Info above is basically pre- 9/19/2011

here are some links for you to show you the possible augments for the gear listed. also note the Rancor Collar has a hidden effect of crit rate +5% if you have max tonberry hate

BG wiki Byakko Critical Hit Damage 1%-4%

BG wiki Shura Z +1 Weapon Skill Damage 1-3

BG wiki for Anwig AGI+4 Increases weapon skill damage (+2%) DEX+4 Increases Critical Hit Damage (+2%) (from completing A Moogle Kupo d'Etat)

I plugged it in I just had pizza +1 as default, If you use higher Attack food with out the accuracy bonus anwig with +Agi/2% and dex/2% will out preform it mate. Thanks for bringing it up. It will using any food the gives high attack i.e. curry.

EDIT: @ Tweek "BG wiki Byakko Critical Hit Damage 1%-4%" Very true as well mate, but only if you get 3 or 4% Crit damage on them, I am thinking I should make meh a pair. (*^.^*)
