if you're getting it on PC you will be messing with steam no matter what. If you have a decent internet I'd say just go with downloading it. its not hard. and you can back it up onto a DVD easily enough incase you ever need to reinstall

My PC copy takes 5.3 gigs, and no steam. Fun times, been playing all day (minus the 3 hours at character creation). Can't wait to go to the midnight release for a ps3 copy and mess with the people who are all antsy to make a character.
If I had a DC -> AC converter, I'd load the PC into the bed of my truck just to play in the parking lot.
