He didn't listen when I said that a temporary solution < long term solution, and taking the easy fixes for short sided views leads to problems. He seems to think I'm ignorant, which I am in many subjects, however unlike religion I try to find answers that have proof behind them, religious people fail in this concept, and eventually the time will come when such stupidity isn't the majority (that's what helps me sleep at night) and him believing in his logical fallacies helps him sleep at night.

And water borne pathogens were an even bigger problem before sanitary drinking water was a common feature. Without alcohol there probably wouldn't have been tobacco or sugar plantations; no one would have been able to survive working them.

it's plausible, but not a definite, I'm not saying that it didn't do what it was used for, I'm saying that if it didn't exist it's possible they would have figured something else out instead, not a definite (and probably unlikely, as for the majority of our existence we had very limited knowledge as to sicknesses as compared to now) but like I said a short term solution < long term solution, do you get that?

Considering that the short term solution made the settlement of plantations in the new world possible roughly 400 years sooner, and that the long term solution: Pasteurization, wasn't created by an Atheist, I'm not sure where you're going with this.

my disagreement with beer has nothing to do with religion, but as I've said before, it's the line of thinking that allows religion to exist that is the problem, and that line of thinking really doesn't apply to people who use the scientific method, anyone claiming a religion while using the scientific method isn't religious, they two don't mix.

you can't sit there and prove that another method wouldn't have arisen sooner if a short term solution wasn't already present (nor can I truly prove that it would) but that isn't the point.

As for another short term solution, the only feasible solution is to use the same chemicals and processes we do today.. You're talking about a period of time BEFORE the elements were mapped out, for *** sake, back then people still thought everything in the world was made of fire, water, air and earth. That wouldn't even begin to change for another few hundred years

to make a claim that doesn't follow logic or doesn't have proof is ignorant/stupid, religion lacks both of these things. science strictly follows logic, and requires proof for the claims it makes.
