Conversations In Shout

Massive failure.
Your logic is fried like an egg on hot pavement.
It's as simple as this: would you walk into a mall and shout "Heeeeeyyyyyyyyyyy everyone in the mall!!" or "I want have your babies!!" or any other such drivel?
Don't try to play it off like you would. If you did, you'd probably be escorted out by security, especially if other people in the mall reacted by shouting stupid stuff in response.
This isn't an argument about who "owns" Whitegate, or any other "public" place in FFXI. It's about decency, and respect. One is expected to be decent in public. If one isn't decent, one likely faces repercussions for being indecent.

If you wanna play really loud music, do it in your home, or another private place. If you wanna walk around naked, do it in your home, or another private place designated for such behavior.
If you wanna shout HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE stuff in Whitegate for masturbatory purposes, why not get a social linkshell for fellow masterbaters?

are people seriously still bitching about shouts? its a chat feature, people have every right to use it. if you cant just simply ignore it or blist the people, if it really bothers you that much, maybe you should find another game.

If you don't like what comes across your screen in the public chat, then GM them. Hopefully, after GM'ing/blisting people ALL DAY, you'll get tired and go somewhere else (which has already been suggested).

This topic is misleading! I looked at the name and thought I would get to see screenshots of people being silly in shout and I get an argument about whether or not shouts are annoying!

Does anyone else find it incredibly annoying when morons have conversations in shout? Do they not realize that you can send tells to talk to friends or are they really that arrogant to think that we all want to hear that their dog is pissing on their floor or that they are eating a Big Mac? Is this something completely trivial to be irked about? Maybe, but if I wanted retards shitting up my MMO space, I'd go buy a copy of WoW. Anyone else agree?

if you didnt like the shout feature you should of asked SE if you could get in the beta so you could try get it removed.dam wait if there was a beta it was like close to 8-9 years ago :(

Shout mode has several worthwhile purposes:

1. Advertising a pick-up group for various tasks (Missions, Skill-up parties, Dynamis, Abyssea runs, etc.).
2. Advertising for your linkshell, recruiting new members.
3. Advertising "Mog House blow-out/clean-up" and "I'm quitting FFXI (again)" sales, when a character is liquidating trade-able/bazaar items.
4. Seeking or advertising transportation via Teleport/Warp/Retrace.
5. Certain questions, such as "Anyone seen the Warhorse Footprint?"

And, I'm sorry to anyone who disagrees, this kinda of garbage is just that: garbage. Keep your garbage to yourself. Don't blame others for "not using their chat filters". As noted above, /shout mode has many beneficial uses, and people do not need to turn on shout filter just because you have no life and/or are desperately seeking attention.
