The topic of thread, and many of the people in it are a few of the many reasons I have no religious views, and when I tell people that they go nuts.

This was a very unfortunate but RARE case. I am sorry to see this happened to him, but I am glad you guys can use one RARE case to continue your crusade of bashing people's culture.

Most of you talk about how religion destroys the rights of others and oppresses people, but in your fervor to rid the world of religion you are in turn oppressing people. Omg, whats that? The voice of reason... I scarcely recognized it with all the blind hatred for religion being thrown around... It's rather amusing to see the word religion put up on these boards and how eager so many are to pounce and cry out how evil it is. Fact is Wombat is right. If he awarded custody solely based upon religious beliefs it will easily be overturned. After reading the article and watching the video I find it very hard to believe it was based solely on that. Divorce can be pretty ugly and kids are a touchy subject when it comes to it. It makes me wonder why he didn't win custody in the first place. Also, I love how they cut so much out of the quotes they showcase and only show the lines that illustrate the point they want to get across. For me, I know too little about this case and these people to really base a decision of who should get what and for how long, but hey that's just me.

This may have been said already, but there was a story on the news a while back about a little girl who died (Was killed) when she was 1 1/2 because she wouldn't (Couldn't) say AMEN before her dinner. She starved to death. Religious nuts are great aren't they?!?

Actually if you google religion and custody battle there is a recent trend for parents to have conflicts over religion in custody battles. The Indiania Law Journal wrote a well documented paper discussing the problem for judges around the country to include religion in custody cases or not. This includes all religions and those of no faith. Like I mentioned in another post most judges only discriminate on the basis of religion for fear of harm coming to the child and, in my opinion, thats the only time religion should ever enter into the discussion.
