I'm assuming you were someone who became a gamer once the mainstream high technology systems were in full swing.
Just because it has MIDI quality doesn't automatically disqualify it from being a great musical track. Besides, the battle system is extremely user friendly and functional at the same time. The more companies try and make unique twists or complexities to it the worst and more frustrating it becomes for the player.
This is not to be mistaken for actual difficulty or inability to function therein.
But srsly, give credit where it's due for the time it was created.
It truly is more amazing and beautiful than you realize.

FF2 had a really good plot and excellent music. Just wish the gameplay wasn't so *** hard and annoying.
