gameplay + run smoother + better resolution + windower + downloads the updates like 1000x faster = mega win

point #2: if #1 is correct AND GRAPHICS aren't your concern, nor do you use 3rd party tools play on the ps2.

to be honest I haven't done the pc updates in a long time, so I can't say either way. hence why I put the question mark.

On PC, you have the option of just downloading the updates via torrent rather than through the POL client.

Also, the bandwidth of the PS2 is limited much more than a PC.

30FPS being the cap with a good GFX card you can maintain highest frame rate more often then console. Meaning less slow downs in big encounters or areas with lots of player "Whitegate"

This whole debate (if we can call it that...) was about which system was better for FFXI: PC or PS2.

You stated that this game sucks on PC; however, pretty much everyone else here disagrees with you.

What you're doing is throwing away every positive point about the PC version, just because they work against you. That's just dumb, and it's not helping your case~

it is not why I am throwing them away because the other "positive points) about the pc are all subjective, and vary from person to person, the only thing I'm discussing is the thing that is not subjective, a point to which you have yet to understand. Whether or not people agree with me or not it's the point, people have preferences as to how they play, like I said, subjective, however if you're talking about the actual gameplay (not graphics or plugins) the game runs better on the ps2, a point I'll have to prove, yes. I've said this a few dozen times probably by now, how do you not understand it?

Considering from experiences (mine, and those that I've read) characters and mobs display faster on the ps2 (typically).

I don't know how a console overheating and exploding while playing Campaign is subjective. The fact that *one* has, automatically makes it worse in any technical testing that you could come up with. The fact that the console the game was DESIGNED TO RUN ON overheats and explodes WHILE PLAYING THAT GAME would make that console worse than a computer when it comes to that game.

Granted, the 8 macros for one action is a little extreme, but so is saying that's subjective, too. I would think one button combination compared to 3-4 for the same action would be preferable to non-masochists, or in this case, non-fanboys.

Pulling up information on the same platform can't possibly be subjective, as it doesn't require either switching channels on your television, or running across the room to your PC. Running at full performance isn't really subjective either, but I guess PS2 does run at full performace, just at the lower resolution.

Which brings me to the last one. Look better. You even ADMITTED it looks BETTER on PC than on PS2. BETTER. Looking better is subjective, but combine it with the last point. Running at full performance, while LOOKING BETTER. You said graphics aren't important to you, but why would you want to go with worse graphics when you can get the same performance?

Looking forward to the tests where you show a PC with a 500MHz processor, 64MB of RAM on Windows ME playing next to a PS2 and saying LOOK LOL IT'S BETTER.

Yup, I've got one sitting in my basement, running a fileserver I have for my friends. Mind you, it's not on ME, but 98 is close enough.

a single console malfunctioning is definitely subjective.
Somebody wanting to use 3rd party tools (against tos) or not is subjective.
Also as to whether somebody wants their information on the same screen or on a seperate one (not everyone has their computer that far away) (some even play on the pc in fullscreen) is subjective, lastly the entire point I was making is that the pc doesn't run the game at the same performance level as the ps2 does, there's differences, as to whether one cares about the differences or not is also subjective.

a 500mhz pc wouldn't even run xi.

the most used pc for the game used a P4 2.26ghz cpu, geforcefx5200 graphics card, I think 128 mb of vram, maybe 256 (i don't remember) 2gb of ram, windows xp. Spybot Search and destroy running in background, and the occasional browser open for www.ffxiclopedia.org (official windower). If you're trying to say that hardware cannot run the game then I'll just have to wait until the i7 laptop (with dedicated graphics) comes and show it on there.
