Microsoft permanently canned any potential XBox 360 release of FF14, way before launch. It's canceled.

Din't they recently say to "Xbox 360 fans" not to worry and rest assured that it was eventually comming to 360 and that the problem was that microsoft din't want to let it connect outside due to the policy, blah blah but it was being worked on?

Links:

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13506_3-20014119-17.html
http://www.1up.com/news/final-fantasy-xiv-xbox-paused
http://www.destructoid.com/final-fantasy-xiv-on-xbox-360-not-cancelled-181805.phtml

What they are saying is Microsoft dont want cross platform MMOs on 360 because they want everyone to have a 360 and xbox live gold, if ffxiv is on pc and ps3 (which it is) it doesnt give people an incentive to buy a 360 if we have a pc that can run fxiv or a ps3.

Thats what they say about the "live policies" the only way they will get xiv on 360 is if SE pays microsoft a huge amount of money which SE could say isnt profitable.

Its some hope for 360 owners but thats all nothing definative, I wouldnt hold your breath though microsoft are always *** about this sort of thing.

That's such a HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE policy from Microsoft lol. Having it Xbox only would of course increase Xbox sales, but not allowing it on the system because it's not exclusive is doing the opposite. People that already own just an Xbox and want to play FFXIV will buy a PS3 or PC in able to do so, and their beloved Xbox will get more attention. Who is going to buy a new system for just one game, and then not get at least another few games for it? If Microsoft would just co-operate to get FFXIV on Xbox too, then they could potentially reign in customers that would otherwise stray.

As for SE paying Microsoft? They probably laughed in their face, regardless of how badly FFXIV is doing. I'm not going to pretend to know anything about the chain of money flow in games production, but I'd imagine Microsoft gets a cut of every copy sold for their system as some sort of licensing fee or something, why should they get any more on top of that? If anything, I'd have thought that they should be paying SE to help port the game to Xbox since it'd be a mutually profitable arrangement.

It took them up til their 3rd expansion for FFXI to be ported to 360, so I'd say if by FFXIV's 3rd expansion it's not out on 360 then it's probably not coming :)

Also, they've hinted in a review that there was a blue mage class most likely in the works, and Flayer seems to fit the role perfectly. A whip, a la Quistis, the Blue mage in FF8, as well as the name just hinting at a more visceral form of DD and/or mage.

On this note, has anyone seen the video of the FFXIV Blue Mage glitch? It was on YouTube a couple weeks ago.

Someone who likes good games, gives viable opinions on why they don't like another game. So no, I'm pretty sure he's a /v/irgin wowtard. 4.0 has become a meme through the wow players currently.

I couldn't figure out what he was mumbling tbh just the text... But in all honesty the game has it's flaws but some people point out the idiotic. Like I was reading siliconera review and he pointed out stuff like:

"The game costs 3 dolars per character and there's 8 slots, basically it will cost you 36 dolars a month, multiply that for 12 months on the year making a total of 432 yearly"

I mean, who the hell would make 8 characters on the first place on a game that it's multiclass? There's a lot of people that is just plain trolling and pointing out stupid crap like this, or go all like LOLOLOL 4.0 WoW will rip FFXIV a new one!!!!! when a lot of them are highly QQing on blizzard boards and comunity boards with the heavy list of problems they have after their fabolous and amazing 4.0 patch.

In the other hand, I agree with constructive people and good reviews even if they are low scored that point out the real flaws like:

-Terrible UI
-Lag
-Low content
-Inconcistence on SP gained per fight
-Fact that Gladiator and Shield skill appart and both consume the SP gained by the other >_>

Those are real problems not the ones that most WoW trolls or ignorant people point out.

Well obviously people on this forum are going to be biased, but that video screams wowfag to me. In a small way it actually makes me GLAD it got such a low rating, because even if they release an update tomorrow that includes everything it should have had at launch and more, and people re-review it and give it an 11 out of 10, it'll still be forever clear of morons like that.

i really don't get this fanboyism movement against FFXIV, the game had its fall on the start, but trolling the game wont get more people from FF community to WoW/Aion community....

IMHO you should keep your trolling to other issues cause even if FFXIV went down and fail " which i don't think will happen" we still gonna either stop playing or go back to XI, I've been playing XI for 8 years, yet i wont consider going to wow @ all.

FFXIV score 4/10 or even 1/20, so what?! i rather waste my money on it than putting it on WoW fee or Aion... again this is My personal Feeling about this :)

It matters because it discourages people from trying it out and SE will lose a lot of customers that way. It could potentially ruin it, making them close the servers. If a game gets 1/20, do you really think the more casual players would waste their time trying it?

Are you implying it wasn't stupid easy to get to the level cap in FFXI and now even easier in FFXIV (oh wait, fatigue system. Whoops I forgot.) The relationship is the inverse of what you would expect. If you want to make a game on the 360 or PS3 you have to go to them, ask nicely, and pay up. The development kits can be expensive and the permissions fees to make a game on their platform are quite steep. They also get, depending on negotiations, partial control of your brand and intellectual property, and get to dictate things like ship dates. (Them also taking a cut of all your sales is a given.)

They also get full control over integration of your game with their Live/Network services. They get to dictate what achievements are in your game and how many. What DLC is available and how much. They get to dictate how your UI, controller architecture, etc work. They get to do their own quality assurance and testing on your game, and can tell you to change and/or fix nearly anything they want. And you have to pay for all of it.

Microsoft and Sony have their brand and reputation wrapped up in the games that are made on their platform. If crappy companies make buggy games, it makes their consoles look bad. So they enforce very strict controls.

SE has a fairly long relationship with Sony, going all the way back to the PSX days. It's not surprising that it's easier for them to work out a deal than with Microsoft.

I think the fatigue system is a dumb complain.... after having tried it, I once reached fatigue just before the reset time not to mention I played reasonable ammount of time over the week (about 6 hours daily if not, more, had a week off), Ive also played a full weekend and not even reached full fatigue, and there's plenty of rank 50 users, that few weeks after release they were already at the 40's and I mean about ranks not physical levels, so it makes you wonder, how if they got the same time as everyone (because of the fatigue) they are higher level than everyone else that quit shortly complaining about fatigue?
I don't know it could change and be a problem when they raise cap over 50 but as of right now, I don't see any problem with it.
People also complains that the leveling is slow, but haven't tried even combining classes which makes it faster, lets you kill higher level mobs by yourself, I read a guide on ZAM about how to efficiently get 500SP every kill on groups, and how to solo higher level leves by yourself, I tried what he mentioned and managed to solo level 30 leves being level 21 after getting staring abilities from THM, CON and PUG. Though his guide was about soloing level 40 leves being rank 33

As for now fatigue is the least of the game problems, majority of people complains because they heard about it not because they have actually experimented it.

What's the diference btw WoW and FFXI or FFXIV or the majority of MMO's out there? both have a mindless grinding with the difference that WoW grinding is about text walls no one really reads which is pretty much no difference than the leves here.

This is a continuing theme here, if someone compares WoW/Aion to FFXIV they MUST be trolling and trying persuade them to quit FFXIV and move to those communities. When that is not the case. I like FFXIV, I want it to succeed, but I also wish the game adopted some ideas/features other MMOs have implemented that simply just worked. I'm not asking for a WoW clone or whatever, just some competitiveness and open ears on the community at large by SquareEnix.

That's the only reason people draw comparisons, they wonder if SE even LOOKED at the competition beyond the superficial layer of the game. It almost seems like that they, in fact, haven't. It's actually fanboyism to defend against constructive critisim.

I agree, the fatigue system is not a problem at all, even for the hardcore. I think most people just hear the idea and cringe, but haven't experienced it.

--Incoming WoW/Aion comparision [Don't take it personally!]--

In WoW/Aion, as most of you may know with extensive knowledge, had rested exp, which allowed people that did not play as much catch up by giving exp bonuses. The fatigue system can be looked at as just another balancing act in the community but by penalizing people that play more instead of boosting people that play less. In fact, it hardly becomes a huge factor, and it probably balances it less than the rested exp model by those games.

No matter how you look at it, it's a childish *** block from a stupid dev. At least with rested EXP you feel rewarded if you can't play a lot.

Also the reason why most people don't hit it in full effect is because there is ***all to do in the game.

I think a lot of people are also assuming that fatigue is currently working as intended.

With the state of other major systems in the game, this might be a dangerous assumption.

i understand your point of view Dracondria, and somehow i do believe the same but to tell the truth, i'll be more than happy to end up with the same people that played XI before... by far one of the best mature MMO community i've played with "other one is Warhammer if you care to know" and i think we all believe that sooner or later SE will fix XIV but to be frank, i want this fix NOW

well Sheebs, it's not only this guy who were rofling about the 4/10, and again i dont care about the rating for the game, what pisses me off is the fanboyism attitude since XI days even though they don't give a *** if the game was good or bad they would troll on it anyway.

i'm not against easy leveling, on the contrary i don't mind it at all with my current work load, but again... WoW's way of leveling is really lame, for me what was magical on FFXI is that you HAVE to party with other 5 people that you dont know and party for like 2-6 hours and by the end of that time you'd gain a new Online friend that you can actually have fun with during your playing time, best party is when there is always a drunken player around XD.

on the other hand, you can get to level 80 in WoW without even talking to someone online beside the NPC to repair or raise yourself... not to mention the kids population in WoW, i know cause i've played wow for two years while playing FFXI "too much free time back then"

tl;dr : people trolling FFXIV just like they did with FFXI before which is kinnda pointless and silly, and nobody should mind mimicking other mmo successful way to improve the game but to be in the scope of the FF spirit we are used to P.S : Fatigue system is stupid , maybe but not a reason to hate the game.

"Players aren't happy with online game Final Fantasy XIV. Square Enix, the company behind the title, knows this and wants to make things better. "Currently, the service isn't satisfactory," says Square Enix boss Yoichi Wada. He's right. It isn't.

"We're in the middle of quickly improving it," Wada told a group of investors. "We want to do everything we can to win back players' trust."

The game has been successful with the PC version shipping 630,000 copies worldwide: 190,000 copies in Japan, 210,000 copies in North America and 230,000 copies in Europe. As Yahoo! News points out, the PS3 version is slated for next March.

"The players who left will return if we satisfy them," Wada said about the game's declining user base. This game's bread and butter are player subscriptions. Square Enix must keep players happy in order to...keep players.

In Kotaku's review, editor Michael Fahey noted, "All of the elements are in place, but like the chocobo, Square Enix is still trying to figure out how to make them work. Many players may have the patience to wait and see how things pan out. I do not."

With established massively-multiplayer games like World of Warcraft competing for players, it sounds like Square Enix has its work cut out for itself if this game has a prayer of surviving."

And neither do I. I haven't logged in for about three weeks now. I have no urge to play the game. The game isn't fun. The game is new and that makes people think its fun, though. Even with the 30 extra "free" days to play, I don't think the game deserves any more of my time.

think ur on to something there. one of the reasons i play is cuz its something different. although it is fun it does get repetitive. lack of content (zones mobs etc) although it is also good to get ahead of the other players that will join in crafts levels money general experience etc
