As long as XIV runs like it is supposed to it should work fine. If possible i would upgrade that processor a little bit, it seems to be the most limiting part that you listed.

Yeah, but unless things change between the beta and retail version (as far as systems needed to run it go) XIV runs on a Pentium 4, I highly doubt a Dual Core at 2.8GHz will have a problem.

PLEASE recommend a graphic card?

CPU - Intel Pentium E5200 @ 2.50GHz

RAM- 4.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 398MHz (6-6-6-15)

Graphics L227W @ 1680x1050 - NVIDIA GeForce 210

Basically want to upgrade from the GeForce 210. My budget is 200 max, could go a bit higher but don't really want to. Looking for a card that would last me a while and play games like Fallout 3/Oblivion on max with AAx4 etc. And obviously FFXIV on medium to high settings.

Also a suggestion for settings is to turn off Ambient Occlusion. I'm unsure if it's just with ATI cards... but at first I couldn't get my CSs to show up. Also it seems to hinder the FPS when it's enabled. I got much better performance after turning it off.

nVidia GeForce GTX 460. Very good deal for its price (200-230 dollars, I believe?). Best graphics card on the market is a GTX 480, and this isn't far behind. Difference is, the 480 is 500 dollars or more.

If you don't mind getting out of Nvidia line, the Radeon 5770 is a pretty damned decent card, it's $150-ish..

What's your PSU wattage? does it have dual PCI-E 6 pin connectors? (I'm assuming the GTX would require the same as most other modern gaming cards I've messed around with)

282 W it calculates to.

It's probably more but I know I'm not doing it right. I am using Speccy to get the information and putting it in Newegg.com

I don't think 282w is going to run a 460..

Actually, 282w isn't really going to run any decent card.. You need a 400w+ for most any decent card.

Open your case and look to see if you have 2 of these free:

Like I said, it's probably more than that, let me try the calculator thing again from a different site or something. I can't understand 90% of the ***on the antec PSU wattage calculator, it's so complicated. :/

<_< It should just plainly say on the PSU itself what it's wattage is.

At least PSUs are fairly cheap. I got my 750W for $80 or so, and it has the detachable cables to reduce case clutter.

I have the GTX 460, and it works great.

I'd say yes.. I'm sure you could still hook up the card and try to run it, but there's no guarantee it'd run, or if it did, for how long.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817121024&cm_re=450w_power_supply-_-17-121-024-_-Product

PSU you need to run the 460..

Just remember you get what you pay for, but that's the cheapest one I found that will work.

Also, with the 460 Nvidia, is it a huge difference between the 1 GB and 768MB?

Depends on how high quality you plan to play games really.. If you expect to play everything at high quality without hiccups, then yes there is a difference.. If you just leave everything on low for every game anyways, then you won't notice a difference.

As for that Ebay PSU, it doesn't have the pins you need.. You need at least 2 6-pin connections. You'd need a couple of these as well:

CPU will be at bottleneck. need at least 2.8Ghz or 3.0Ghz if you can. Get a aftermarket cooler and OC it to 3.0Ghz, E5200 OC's fairly well. Also if your PSU isn't sending enough power to your VGA it will run choppy.

I can't speak for the 460, I *** hate Nivida with a passion..

I can however tell you, that I ran my 4870 on a Core 2 Duo that was running at 2.13GHz, the 5770 isn't all that much different then the 4870, and my 4870 runs this game on max, beautifully. When my 4870 was in my Core 2 Duo rig, I never had a single issue with it.

This is a good cheap CPU cooler, I'm using this one of one of my PC's allows pretty decent overclock with low temps, and even more if you add extra fan to it.

I also have this PSU on that same computer:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5344842&CatId=1079

Been working fine for 2 years so far, and the currents are stable
