You're perhaps one of the most reasonable and humble people I have ever known; on or offline for that matter. But I certainly wouldn't see your competitive nature as a weakness. If anything it can be used as a form of self-empowerment for progress in whatever obstacle may lay in your path to accomplishment.

Not sure. I'm actually in the process of formulating new answers to these, since turning 30 last month and doing a bit of requisite introspection.

Sleep time for me though, I think. Good questions. =) Hope I didn't come off like a *** for kinda monopolizing a thread for a night. We'll have to do this again some time.

One more that I didn't answer:

I specialize in MMO's, virtual worlds, and persistent multiplayer experiences. I'm primarily a back-end coder, doing server code architecture, core systems, client game engines, etc. I'm usually the guy that leads the core team that writes say, the combat system, or the spell system, or an experience/class system, or the quest framework. User/world persistence, etc.

I'm rarely (never really, anymore) the guy who actually goes in and programs the individual weapons, classes, mobs, spells, quests, etc that go on top of those systems.

I also tend to stay away from web development, although it's getting harder and harder to avoid.

I started as a teenager by volunteering for whatever jobs I could get in the industry. Back then, "beta tests" were actual semi-compensated positions that you needed to apply to. I built up a resume of 50+ games working for whatever studios would have me. Did some volunteer level design and scripting. Got my name in some credits.

I then graduated to low-paying grunt positions like GM, level designer, scripter, etc. Made a lot of industry connections and became close to well-networked people. Did that for a few years while going to school for a more prestigious core coding job. Fleshed out my resume with a bunch of side ventures and different specialties/degrees in other areas of game production, like art, psychology, localization, music, etc.

Graduated, leaned heavily on the connections I made doing years and years of thankless grunt work. Got in on the ground floor as a newbie core coder. Did well through hard work, stuck through some bad situations where others could not, pulled off some miracles. Worked on a number of successful games and ended up being recognized for it.

Since Scragg is the one that asked me if I wanted to be a mod, I'll go with yes as the answer.

But seriously. Both of them are smart as hell, and have done great things on the programming side of the site.
