DURR POSTING RANDOM INFORMATIONS. Sorry, forgot to include the point of my post. >.> I was just going to say that it confuses me that you think it's dumb when people say they believe in a god, though you are a theist (one who believes in a god or gods). Not trying to say your thoughts are contradictory, just to say that I'd like to know your reasoning.

As ignorant as the people who say they "know" there is a god?
Not really. It's more of POIDH. Yes it might be true. But since you can't really prove a negative the only logical solution is to believe in things that can be proven and not in things that can't be
There is no milk in my fridge. /em goes to check his fridge. Whoa, I just proved a negative!
What if the milk is invisible like god? What if you are unable to see it?
There is no largest prime number. Assume there is, and call it the 'k'th prime: then let p = p_1 * p_2 * p_3 * ... * p_k + 1 where p_i is the ith prime number, from least to greatest. Since none of those primes divide 1, they can't divide p. So p is only divisible by itself and 1, and p must be prime. But that's a contradiction, because p is greater than p_k. So there can't be a largest prime number. I proved a negative again! With something invisible, that I can't even see or touch or find in the physical world! Seriously, guys, these tired sound-bytes about not being able to prove negatives, etc., are just silly. We do it all the time.
Continuing with religious logic. What if your numbering system isn't real? Doesn't work? What if your entire perception of the world around you is wrong? What if you just can't understand it properly

But humans believe in god, what then. They can and they are not dumb for doing so.

Depends on your opinion. I am a theist and I find it dumb when people tell me they believe in a god.
"Theism, in the broadest sense, is the belief that at least one deity exists." Theism isn't quite the same as having a religious belief. "Religion is the belief in and worship of a god or gods, or a set of beliefs concerning the origin and purpose of the universe." So sayeth wiki.
inb4lolwikioncemore

Is that to say I am not a theist or what is that about?

Nope you are not one, from the looks of it you are scared, in case god does exist.

we all know your type!

Actually I had a series of PMs explaining my beliefs on the topic to Ragnarok.Psyence on 2010-06-14 @ 20:14:04. They posted a long time back in this thread. I just try to avoid getting into long drawn out posts going back and forth on the topic.

Oh, and

Idiot.

You actually responded you should look farther in the thread. above you, do not tell me you take me seriously, I mean....

Prince, seriously: get over yourself. You're not doing anyone any favors with this attitude of superiority. You're clearly not terribly gifted at math, so it makes no sense for you to prop that subject up the way you've been, as some sort of sign that smart, reasonable people aren't religious, etc. You're giving those of us that DO study math and science a bad image by painting us as religious bigots. I'm absolutely sick and tired of this culture of superiority that's going around these days among (my fellow) atheists, as if science and "rationality" clearly and unequivocally disprove the existence of God -- and anyone who doesn't recognize that, who doesn't hop on board and 'get with the program', is just a HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE, backwards neanderthal that deserves to be mocked and ridiculed in public. I currently have several very devoutly religious friends in physics and mathematics Ph.D. programs who are insanely brilliant and could personally blow the ***out of you in any contest of wits. They observe and practice their religion regularly and, quite frankly, you can stuff your opinions about that up your ***. (Not to mention several of the Nobel Laureates throughout the years who considered their scientific work an act of worship.) The fact that these people exist might not make sense in your worldview, but do kindly keep it to yourself: the rest of us plan on getting along just fine, and we'd prefer it if you keep your bigoted nonsense behind your oh-so-superior lips.

Coming from someone who just pointed out I posted a series of equations diving by zero and jumping all over it? Then claiming you know a bunch of mathematicians that are better than me? Please. I never stated I was better or more knowledgeable than anyone else here when it comes to math or physics. I don't care how much *** academia garbage you can throw at me. I'm done with school, and I've continued my studies elsewhere. You want to compare raw knowledge in our areas of our specialty? I bet my internetwork skills will blow your *** out off this planet proportionately to your whatever math tutoring skill you have any day. So keep that thought of "Prince is here to be arrogant" in your head and point out a frivolous subject on this thread such as dividing by zero and basing it on me as if my life depended on it. Reason I brought it up? This was a thread, a conversation on science vs religion; evolution vs creation. I used some silly mathematical equations, which only 3 people were able to find the fallacies in. Could the person I was targeting figure it out? I don't think so. Could you? Yes. Could I? Sure, I made it up. Could Smiley? Sure seems like he was able to. So what? You think that's all I know, is how to divide by zero and manipulate it as a proof? You're pathetically mistaken. Go back to tutoring your students and believing in your brilliant colleagues who worship in some divine being. Don't try to impose it on me. I think it's clear I don't give a ***how magnificent you are scientifically or religiously when it comes to books. This was a debate. I was taking part in it. Don't like it? Think you can "lolown" me by posting some inconspicuous wall of text trying to tell me to stfu? You're no different than the pathetic god believers here who attempt to persuade others of it by blowing out ideas with no proof what so ever.

So I believe people who believe in god are stupid in that respect? Hell yeah I do. Is it my opinion, um yes. Don't like it? Go *** yourself with your superior knowledge of natural logarithms take a laxative and discharge a bit.

1. Yes you did. Your whole point in bringing it up was to prove that a religious person.
2. Wow, how relevant!
3. Wait, I thought you just said you weren't claiming you were better at math and science than anyone? How strange!
4. Actually, you were the one imposing your beliefs on others, not the other way around.
5. You consider mocking people a debate? lolwut? How "rational"!
6. Someone disagrees with you, therefore they are the enemy! Hurray reactionism!

Well really technically you should just insert anything that isn't proven. But there is a huge difference in believing it's possible and believing it is.
I agree. There's a definite line between people who leave the option open, and those who blindly just accept things as a given because "it is".
I mean technically I beleive anything is possible. And no not in the sappy after school special way. Because well technically it is.

But not going to base my life on something completely unproven. At least give me a 0.1% chance

Funny thing is this pathetic loser... did not see what I said. I grew up in a strict family studying for as long as I can remember.

1. I was not allowed to play games during the weekday just study and other stuff.
2. Science, math, and english were my top in school
3. I think you crushed him farther than you needed to.
4. I was good at all those stanford 9 Mcas etc tests, I some times had a weak point in them though I was lazy, why did we need stupid tests like this? I only needed them to pass tests to get into special gifted high school (which I did)

I was not even trying to impose or force anything on someone I just defended the people idiots like him called stupid.

Back to my business.
