Lost faith in this ever being fixed... still nothing showing on the TalkTalk forums from the OCEs and this is in 2 different threads.
Probably a wise idea to just leave TalkTalk for another ISP, one that will actually let you play FF at a decent hour instead of *** 5am-8am as is the case right now.
Off to work shortly, am I hopeful of a resolution to this saga? I won't believe it until I actually see it.

Just to let you know that I managed to log on this morning straight away with no use of Hotspot. My brother still hasn't tried, though he usually can't log without Hotspot at all.
I'm hoping it lasts, but after last night trying to do Abyssea and DCing 3 times only on the 4th time finding myself unable to log into the viewer, I am doubtful.
Anyways, theres always hope.

Nice job talktalk

Been following this for a few days now on FFXIAH and TalkTalk's forums.
Got on today at roughly 7:50am. Played for a very laggy 20 minutes before being booted permanently again :/
I'd already switched ISPs on Sunday to PlusNet. Just waiting for an activation date so I can GTFOff TT >:c (Was changing ISPs before this mess anyway, since TT have the worst service EVER.)

I know they are doing there job, i was on the phone for about 4 hours speaking to people about this problem and being hung up on after waiting 30 mins + to speak to someone, the whole night so i wouldnt exactly say i was in my best mood.
They all say the same thing, reset your router clear your cache, is your computer working properly, tried to explain its only talktalk customers that are having a problem, every other provider is fine, wasnt enough information to fix it apparently but another guy was wanting the address ffxi connects to when we select our character, couldnt find it at that moment but then found the port number on playonline site and offered it up to this other guy and he wasnt interested.

getting really annoyed by this been using hotspot to get online but really is useless cant do C.battle besiged or abyssea without getting booted 5+ times but i have made it a little better to deal with by turning off all effects and chat log's its not ideal but was in abyssea for 4 hours with 3 DC's. other issue is that my sisters char can log in fine without hotspot and mine cannot thing is tho were on the same internet connection im gonna try coppying her settings see if there is somthing amiss.

Its touchy.. I said it was a temporary fix, not something that is going to work without a doubt. And effects and Filters are nothing to do with connection speed lol.

Since it started happening I've not been able to log in normally.
Only with Hotspot, when that works for a few hours.
Even when i'm on then I can't do anything so its pointless being on unless its for trails, etc.
Lets hope somethings done over these next 2 days.
Hope being the key word. ~.~

If Hotspot isn't working for you anymore, try here. If that doesn't work.. Even though I know you are shooting yourself in the foot but try paying for HideMyAsses paid VPN for a month.. Or, you can invite each other to it and get a month of it free. I've been using HideMyAss since the linked method, and the Direct attempt were failing, this has been absolutely solid, and as an added bonus you can watch stuff like Hulu if you change the IP to a US one (I know you can watch Hulu on the Linked method too, even though oddly enough the IP is actually a Japanese one).

has anyone tryed ringing and making them read the talktalk forums which we all posted in?
surely if they read all that they should believe its them and not us with the problem...

we've given them the port numbers! they were going to check it because they think they blocked it as a possible PnP port but nothing happened

apologies for double post but..
the fact that a VPN works (in general), is enough for ANY technician to understand its a talktalk issue.
if its our side a VPN wouldnt work ;) plus our internet works :P

Iv just posted a big private message to about 6 OCE's on talktalk forums. gave them the url to the big thread we have on their forums in hope they may come.

A VPN would work if it was something our side stopping FFXI in particular actually. =P

Yeah but a Filter isn't going to effect just FFXI lol, its gonna effect everything. And the router would pretty much be the same too.

Yeah i've gave talktalk the port numbers, directed them to talktalk members forum, even linked the zam.com and ffxiah.com threads to them to kinda make them learn a bit more of the issue, even had the joys of talking direct to some of the line managers, this has apparently been through engineering, networking, even to BT engineers for some reason (wtf do they have to do with it.. it aint their line causing the problem) and still getting nothing back except "not oour fault" and after a chat with ofcom reps about the issue who eventually got back to me and told me to go through talktalks own complaints procedure (like they even read those) if nothing comes of that then ofcom will look into it themselves.. not quite what i was hoping for :/

a.. BT have to be involved because its their line. although talktalk use their own engineers they have to get permission from BT to mess with it and it could be something BT's end thats causing the issue to the LLU server.
b. Ofcom are right.. they're basically the 2nd line of complaints. once u complain to a company they have (unbelivably) 8 weeks to resolve ur complaint. if either 1 they dont resolve it or 2. dont resolve it to your satisfaction Ofcom can get involved and reviwew not just the complaint but the situation as a whole. they also have the right to advise the company to award compensation.
we were told last night that it WAS due to them.. hmm fiddlers
By Wilkan 2010-07-31 09:35:58
told last night that it was talktalks fault? who by?
Basically.. Trying to log in to FFXI.. I get through to logging in fine, as soon as I log in, I'll start d/cing.. It isn't just one character/account because I've tried my other account to in Whitegate, and nothing. Only started happening today, anyone got any ideas, because I'm stumped.
