I was having a little trouble doing boost grabs too, don't know why, I'm usually pretty boss at doing it from playing Ness.

Run towards me and on the joystick (you're *** on wiimote?) hold up/diagonal in the other direction as you press x and y i think it is. Let me double check 1 sec rq

I use A+R+Diagonal.

A = Jump for me, R = Attack.

R = Z button for GC, Zr is my Shield button.
