Company im working for do it to share stuff with our clients, works great imo
See it works well for that, but for military it's useless to have each individual office to have their own little tab. Worse enough is having crappy internet to deal with just to upload or update files. Then to add the emails you get for weekly suspenses, calendar updates and many other crap. I spend 30 minutes a day just updating or adding to SharePoint when the people that look at my stuff have access to my folder on the shared drive on the network.

Nice for sharing outside the network, but my job doesn't share stuff outside of our building.
