Desynthesis works differently than Synthesis. Just like how dismantling something for parts is different than building something from them. Quality of finished product is based off of your skill in putting it together. However anyone can take it apart, regardless of skill, and either get good usable parts or nothing worthwhile at all.
Also desynthesis isn't just lightning crystals, wind is also able to be used for desynthesis on some cloth-like items.
On merchantability... NPCs do not purchase beastmade items, like Goblin Mask.
Crazy stuff, i'm not used to skilling up using lightning crystals, but i had 3 of these masks in my inventory and my alchemy was lvl 17. i Outpost warped to Qufim island. The Thunder weather was up. sought out the thunder element, killed it, got cluster, used. and started to desynth my masks.
Now for the crazy part:
1st crystal: Glass Fiber x4 (+1?)
2nd crystal: .1 skill up + break cystal only
3rd crystal: .2 skill up + Glass fiber x8 (+3???)
4th crystal: .1 skill up + break + lost mats
