If all you want to do is get a base skirmish weapon, and try a few augments hoping maybe to get a half way decent weapon you can use to start you off on Delves and higher tier skirmishes, a Ghastly stone might work.
Just don't try TOO hard because after about 10 attempts you've wasted enough bayld to just get a forefront item that would probably serve the same purpose better.
