Actually, Mandies don't drop the rarab tail needed for this quest. Savannah Rarabs don't, either. Bumblebees drop it.

Rarab Tails are plants, not actually the tails off Rarabs :P

As for the item itself, it is incredibly cheap MND and one of the best early questable items in the game to get. It also has 1 DEF, and since it's All Jobs, it works well as a generic neckpiece for early in the game. (MND also helps you with resists from those pesky beasties!)
